Cool Pool Vid - Many Midwest Players

That was great! A big thanks to my old buddy Ray. I went to Clinton a couple of times, once with Louie and once with Keith. I don't think Keith even played in the tournament (the field may have been full already), just gambling all night. We made money, that much I remember.

I saw a lot of old friends in the background. Guys like Danny Jones and New York Blackie (look closely and you'll see Keith in a photo or two). Those were the good old days of Pool, when road men abounded and prospered, pre-internet.

Sadly, we'll never see the like again, Jay. And the saddest part of that is, thousands of great current players will never have any idea, other than these type videos and word of mouth, just what we're talking about when we drag all this stuff up. Great, great days...

Thanks for the vid.

I see Ray at the State tournies and if I enter the Senior's division, I get to play those guys. It's like the Master division on steroids.

I know Matlock well. In his prime his high-gear was WAAAAAAY up there. He was subject to put a 10pack(or more) on anybody at anytime. He now works at Shooter's in Olathe and still plays pretty sporty.

Great video
I saw many of those players come through the Chicago area playing in the Willard’s Classic Cup tournaments in the eighties. Those were the days.
