shank question

Maybe the shank is .998 or something? It is difficult to put a 1.00 round piece into a 1.00 round hole....

Hey Dick, Carbide tipped, designed for metal.

I have no clue how much better, or if it even is better to use one designed for cutting wood. I've had mine for about 12 years now and when I ordered it they said that a wood cutting profile would be ground onto it's nose. I do know I've been very happy with it and have bored many, many pieces of wood successfully. This is a good price as I paid more than this price 12 years ago.
