What's the deal with Corey? I heard he doesn't practice as often anymore, and he is taking up golf. Does anyone know what his status is? It would be a shame to see such an amazing player kick something he dominated at and play such a boring game as golf (although you can make much more money in golf).

Uugh!!! Golf? Sounds like Michael Jordan with his baseball fantasy.

Since Corey is banned from participating in UPA tournaments by Charlie Williams, the self-proclaimed president of the UPA who created the "touring pro" category with the sole intent of isolating and banning certain pro pool players who don't want to sign legally binding UPA contracts, it may provide some time for Corey to enjoy his golf game.

Ask Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland about golf, and their eyes light up like a kid in a candy store. Walk in a pool room down South in the summertime and ask where the pool players are. They're all playing golf.

Corey has a good draw, is very popular, especially with the ladies, and it is gratifying to hear that he is hooked up with the Seminoles in Florida, who appear to actually be doing something positive in this cash-poor pool industry.

Golf a boring game, huh? What an absurd remark!

Golf is a SUPERIOR sport to pool. It requires MORE talent. That is the TRUTH, and the truth should prevail, regardless of what somebody wishes the truth to be.

I love pool (that's why I check in here) but pool, and the pool scene, is NOWHERESVILLE when compared to golf.

MORE talent?
How about a completely different talent.

Get a grip. You're comparing apples and oranges.

And yes.......golf is boring.
Used to play for business reasons. I quit because I REALLY never grew to enjoy it.

You quit and never enjoyed it because you played and felt like a buffoon on the golf course. Nobody enjoys something that they're lousy at and can see no hope in the future for improvement.

I don't remember ever quite feeling like a buffoon.........but if you say so. Seeing as you have seen me play and all. So I quit from despair? Ahh...........Now I see. I'll take it up again, take MORE lessons, improve another 5 strokes or so, and THEN I'll LOVE it.

Nah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the original post was about Corey Deuel.
Hey if HE wants to take off to play golf, so be it. But, I'd hate for him to lose a step in this hiatus.

The above two sentences explains very succinctly why some people find golf to be "boring." :)

I find golf boring not only to play but to watch also. In my opinion it's rght up there with water polo and cricket

I'm a fan of Corey Deuel so I'd like to see him in the spotlight again. I suppose if he wants to play golf instead of concentrate on pool then that's his choice.

No, the choice is ours- here on AZ Billiards- now.

Then as BJoe says: God, please resolve the issue of Corey's destiny immediately.

How could Cory be banned from the UPA? He is listed on top of the UPA Seed Rankings after the Big Apple 9-Ball tournament in August. Came in 25th.

Cory also says don't blame golf, he played every day when he won 5 tournaments in 2001.

By golf being boring, I meant watching it. The game itself is not superior to pool, or harder to play. To become good at both, it takes years and years of experience along with talent. So shut up, you golf nut (j/k)

At the Wizard of Oz UPA website, one may never know who is behind the curtain. The website is not updated on a current basis, nobody ever answers the phone number listed in Hardy, Virginia, and if you e-mail the UPA website, good luck on getting a response in less than a week, usually too late to answer any legitimate inquiry.

If you look at the UPA "Tour," as they call it, there is only one event left, promoted by Charlie Williams, as most of the other tour stops were. Charlie Williams is so hell-bent on sanctioning independent events for the purpose of securing the money payouts, and yet not very many people know of the monies he owed pool players for weeks at a time, telling them he would pay them with a post-dated check after making the pool player wait for three tournaments to pass.

Men's pool needs fresh blood, and I am looking forward to the Seminole Tribe's upcoming events. I am also looking forward to the Grady Mathews' Derby City ring game, $5,000 a man, and would like to see Earl Strickland slaughter Charlie Williams without seeds and byes in a legitimate competition. And I will be sitting in the front row for this one, applauding after every good shot and cheering loudly for The Pearl.
