Correct use of ER collet for those interested.

For the most of us, I guess this is known stuff, but I thought I should share this after I talked with a older man which has used a lathe for many years, but was still knocking the ER collets out with a hammer.

So for those who has not seen this method, it might be interesting to try the mentioned method.

Hope it helped.

A good post. I never thought that they could be assembled wrong. But obviously they can be.
Good proactive post.

You may get away with cutting wood, plastic, etc using a collet holder, I
have many times, but for milling metal - an endmill HOLDER is strongly recomended.

The man I was talking to had actually made some brass tools to knock these collets out of their holders.

Anyway, hope it shows how it might be done.
