egg inc. went and got played by cory in dc and his worldbeater friend some one hole and 9 ball last night. let me just say that cory and his friend are seasoned champions that pocket balls like sigel and move like efren. right when you think you got them, they just run out from nowhere. I felt like we learned a lot donating the $4300...so all in all, it was a good experience. we need 10-4 next time cory!

I warned out this was coming! :D

WOW! That's quite a donation, Egg!

We're going to be at Orange Ball tonight in Rockville. They have been getting 20-plus players EVERY Wednesday in the $25-entry-fee tournament.

"Parks" was hitting 'em pretty sporty last week, knocking down UPA Touring Pro Mike Davis and Earthquake! [Hi, Jim! :D]

Actually it's only $20. For those of us who never get the cash, that $5 is a big difference!

The $5 doesn't matter too much to Team McCready. By the time we receive the tab at the end of the evening, we're usually in the RED -- win, lose, or draw! :p

it's nothing compared to what I donated to ugotaction in a $1 ring game the other week :(

oh man 20+ players??! I'll have to go do recon...see who all shows up so I can make a note not to ever gamble any of them! That's a tough field...like beetle said, I'm really going to be appreciating that $5...which gets you what...1.5 gallons now? Maybe I'll see you guys there tonight...if not, good luck!

Hope to see you, Eggman! :)

Ugotaction is in North Carolina today. I put a call in to the little bugger, and there has been NO RESPONSE! He must have been up all night long in action. ;)

I am very grateful to the pool rooms in our area who host tournaments. The weekly events like at Orange Ball are very much appreciated by me and mine. When we attend these nightly gatherings, we welcome the chance to get out of the house, mingle with pool folk, and most importantly, have an opportunity to shoot pool and stay in stroke. :)

Orange Ball continues to be a great place to hang out in the metro D.C. area. My favorite dish on the menu is that "bim-bob bowl." I'm not sure how to pronounce it, but it's a Korean dish with a fried egg on top of vegetables, steamed rice, and beef. YUMMIE! :D

It's just that the tournament always lasts till 12:00 and beyond is what I heard. Too late for my blood.

Why couldn't they do this on a Saturday night, or even Friday? :(

Actually, last week, we got out of there at 10:30 p.m. The side-armed player got knocked out second round by a very determined Parks. They have shortened the first two matches to a race to 5 [instead of a race to 7] due to popularity of this particular local happening.

Believe me, in a short race to 5, if you're hitting 'em pretty sporty, you can make it to the top, no matter WHO you're up against.

Orange Ball hosts in-house leagues on various nights of the week. I think Friday and Saturday nights, they are hoping to receive revenue from the weekend regulars who enjoy coming in to play pool, drink, and be merry. :p

$4300! That's not how I remember it. Of course, I did have a few beers. So I just checked the wall safe and the Swiss bank accounts, and now I'm sure Jersey John and I won roughly $4220 less than that (If I'm wrong, PM me and we'll set up an installment plan ;) ). In fact, I'm pretty sure we came out exactly even after you factor in your profits from me setting you up with one of the local ATMs.

After we quit playing doubles, I played Egg McD's Russian friend, who gave me a sound drubbing in 9-Ball (7-5 and 7-2). Fortunately I was able to return the favor in one pocket (3-0, 3-1). All in all, I had a lot of fun. Thanks for making the hike into the city.

By chance, that wouldn't be THE Russian, now, would it?

details...details. Oh man...even your local ATM plays like a champion...he wouldn't even spot me! It was hard to matchup...we both wanted the 7...and man when I matchup...if I so much as hear a pin drop, I take off running like a spooked deer during open season. It was a lotta fun though and thanks for playing. my only regret was not finishing that last beer :(

I should be so dumb to suggest the weekends. I should know better LOL.

Thanks for the update. Last time I went there were more than 20 players. Must have bee 30.

Heh, I saw gas in Frederick today for $2.99 per gallon!!!!! I think prices will be coming down - they always do after they rip us off for the Labor Day weekends. Then maybe I won't feel so bad about driving all the way down to the Orange Ball to watch.

Twenty-seven players showed up. It was a GREAT tournament, and it paid out 8 spots, with fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth getting their entry fee back.

It was a relaxing evening. I saw so many friends from the past I hadn't seen in YEARS. This Wednesday night gathering is starting to become a really nice pool happening!

Lots of AzB-ers in the house: Jerry Yost, Beetle, JAM, Earthquake, DelawareLar, and Black Bush Man. :p

Did you come, Whitewolf?

who won last night

Who took it down last night at Orange Ball. I just know it was a tension-packed match with Taxi and Nightmare. Keith beat me handily, as usual, but it's so true that anybody can win by putting a couple of good games together. Anyways, good to see everybody as usual ie Delaware, Earthquake, Gruber, Beetle, Heavy Harris, Jam, Sweet Jenn, Rob, Mike Ric, and the rest of those straight shooters.

Take care,
Parks

Hi, Parks! Keith took it down, but the match between him and Bob Harris went hill-hill! What a nail-biter. :p

We both did have a really good time at Orange Ball last night, so good that we didn't get home until 2:30 a.m., even though the tournament concluded well before then. :o

Time flies when you're having fun, I guess! :D

Rob as in 'Spanish Rob'?

Also, is Jerry Nickolson still down there? I saw him briefly after his surgery and hope he is doing okay. He could barely walk then.

Thanks JAM for the update!

Hi Parks, good to see you on the board! Good to see everyone there. Anyway, Spanish Rob wasn't there this time. The other Rob (Perry) was. Jerry seems to be doing fine, still playing actively and very well (especially 8-ball).
