How much should I expect to pay if I decide to recover my pool table with Simonis 860. I know the cloth is going to run me about $250 but what do mechanics usually charge for labor?

Thanks in advance.

P.S.
Its an 8ft'r

Good question, lets get some good answers here.

Sears, Diamond, Brunswick, Olhausen....what kind of table is it?

Regardless of the price seek out the best installers. Prices seem to be comparable but workman ship is not. From what I read about about RKC I would wait in line for him. Do it right the first time or you'll hate it.

Its a Vitalie.

I only know of one mechanic in my area, which installed mine when I bought it. I live in S. Texas (rio grande valley). I spoke with him on the phone and he quoted me $250 for slate and rails, obviously I buy the cloth.

I'd like to know if this is what is normally charged. I suppose if he's the only guy that does this work I won't have a choice in the matter :( but I still want to know if I'm paying a fair price. Thanks again.

The price seems OK, but it don't reflect the skills you're paying for. As for myself, I seldom ever just change the cloth on a pool table...any pool table, as I'm almost always rebuilding the table first....then installing the cloth. I haven't just changed the cloth on a pool table since I don't know when, it's just not something I do, as I feel like I'm imposing on someone elses area to do that kind of work in someone elses backyard if you know what I mean. But, if I were to take a job of changing the cloth, my labor would be at least $300 depending on the pool table I'm working on, and that don't include breaking the seams apart to relevel the slates, that's extra...and I make it clear up front first.
