It should cost you what ever the going rate is in your area. No matter what kind of ball park quotes you get here on AZ for that kind of work being done, it has no bearing on what someone in your area is going to charge or not charge, so it's kind of pointless asking what the prices here on AZ is, you need to be calling your local technicians and ask them what they charge.Big C said:I have an Olhausen 8' that I need to get recovered, leveled and have the pockets double-shimmed. If I buy the cloth(Simonis 860)online, thats $200 alone. What should the rest of the work cost me?
If you don't feel you can reply with a "ball park quote", why bother responding? My plan was to see what table mechanics on this board charge as well as what table owners here have paid. Then I was goint to ask local mechanics to quote me a price. Whatever I am quoted, I will either accept, or reject the bid. And that Sir, is "the only bearing" on what someone in my area would charge!realkingcobra said:It should cost you what ever the going rate is in your area. Look, I don't mean to offend you in any sort of way. The point that I was trying to make is that it really don't matter what anyone else charges for the work you'd like to have done, you still have to find someone in your backyard to get the work done. Now, you could quote him some prices that you were told about that other people charge, but...would it really matter to the guy in your backyard? I've had this same arguement with Diamond when it comes to setting up Diamond Professional tables. They tell me what they charge to have it done in Indiana, then expect me to do it for the same price in California...that don't cut it with me. They don't normaly charge much for stairs, and I'm like...great, when you get that table up those stairs...I'll finish putting it together, but...until then, I want paid for what "I" do. AND...on the other hand, I do work all around the country, fixing pool tables, recovering tables, leveling tables...at my price, that I would normaly charge...then come to find out, I was so far under the price that the table owner would have had to pay had he had someone locally do the work it's a joke. But, never-the-less, I stand by my prices, because that what I charge. Not to sound mean or anything, if someone called me and asked me how much I charged to do something, then I give them my price...and they responded with, "well, I was talking to some other people, and they don't charge that much, how come you do?...My responce would be, because that's what I charge, so maybe you need to call them back, and I'd be nice about it too.Big C said:If you don't feel you can reply with a "ball park quote", why bother responding? I like your price, but there seems to be a geographic barrier. Can you recommend someone in my area?sdbilliards said:you should let us know what area your in, I'm sure you'll get some quotes. If your within 50 miles of disneyland, I would do your table for $400 and I supply the simonis and we can talk about your options for pocket tightening. I perfer customers to not supply the materials. I want to make sure I have the right stuff and the right amount by getting it myself.

Just a thought, you might want to call some of the 20 pool halls in your area and talk to the owners/managers about who recovers their pool tables, then take a little trip to the room that gives you the best recommendation, and look for yourself as to what kind of work the person does on the tables there. Seeing the work done is more factual, than just taking a persons word for it.Big C said:I like your price, but there seems to be a geographic barrier. Can you recommend someone in my area?
I'm recovering Mike Massey's Diamond ProAm 9ft this morning, then setting up his 10ft Gabriels Billiards table I brought with me, then going to Idaho to finish setting up an 8ft ProAm there, then off to Sacramento to fix the slates and re-install the cloth right on a Diamond 9ft Professional table there, then off to Antioch, Ca to work on a Diamond 7ft ProAm there, recovering it, then I have to deliver and set up a Gabriels 9ft Signature Pro in the Danville, CA area, then I'm off to San Francisco to deliver a Honduras Rosewood Diamond 9ft Professional table...ummm, then back to Vegas, I have 4 Diamond 7ft Smart tables and 1 9ft Diamond Smart tables to deliver to Arizona from there. Did I mention I have 7 Diamonds that still have to be delivered to Canada, 1 7ft Smart table going to Montana, 10 7ft ProAms going to Mickey's Pool-hall in Vegas, 10 more Diamonds to Arizona again....UUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH....LMAO But, somewhere right after the middle of November I should be heading out to Simonis to take a break and start making my long awaited DVDs, that'll be my vacation time....LMAODartman said:Boy - get yer butt to Ivans and get the damn cd done.![]()
