Counting Cue Points?

Right now on the For Sale forum there is a gorgeous Blue Grass cue for sale by Bushwhacker. The thread almost got hijacked over the cue's description. It is described as having 35 points! I got a quick education on the difference between veneers and re-cut points. This cue being the later.

So, I wonder how those that are way more experienced than count the points on this cue? They are veneers. My guess is 16.

how did they get 35 a odd number from 16 even points to start with is my question. Leonard

Its a 45.

15 points in forearm - 30 points below wrap

That don't sound right either I see eight on top and eight on bottom. Add some veneers and show me the 35 or 45. but I edited because I was talking about the cue shown at the top in this post which ain't nothing like the one Bushwacker is selling, Sorry Leonard

And a good guess it is, howsomever,
by accepted cue nominclature it is an 8 point cue
with 8 REVERSE points in the handle

IMHO - the additional census of points
is due to a little good old fashioned hype

the 35 points is essentialy a marketing strategy since it sounds better than 7 points/5 veneers or whatever the design is. i've gotten into discussions as to which is more prefered, which is harder etc etc.

i have yet to see, nor do i care, if whether prongs are recut or veneered makes any significant difference in price, though i'm sure the qmakers who do it would like it to be so.

i've even read qmakers on both sides saying recuts are easy or hard,, but that's akin to an artist saying painting a figure is easy and another saying it isn't.........

any difference would be in the woods used, since veneers are almost all dyed sycamore while recuts are of various hardwoods. since i've never heard of a cue built with sycamore in the nose or prongs(it may be a butt ugly wood for all i know), one thought i have is that it MIGHT be an inferior hardwood to build a cue from,,,but that is a total guess and something a cuemaker would better equipped to answer.
