Anybody been here? The website seems a little old (still advertising IPT stuff). It looks like they have around 50 Gold Crowns and maybe even regular tournaments!

Any input would be helpful.:thumbup:
 
eric, country club has recently closed it's doors. it's a sad thing, that was one of the largest and nicest rooms around.

That sucks! It looked great. You know any good places around with decent tournaments? I will be staying in or around New Boston.
 
i know the wednesday night league has moved to boston billiards in nashua nh but i'm not sure of anything else. i believe someone is making an attemt to buy the tables and open up nearby and i'll post as i find out if this will happen.

Hey, so it did close finally? There was rumor that it will close, then one of the people that work there said no, we're open, and now closed again?

Sheesh.

Some of my early pool memories was going up there to watch the Joss tour and meeting Grady there. Also was the one and only time I played with a SW.
 
This does suck. This was also the place that Alex Pagulayan made his coming out party when he triple dipped all 3 Joss events one week.
If I remember correctly Grady gambled with him, giving him weight and by the end of the week Grady was getting weight.
Could be wrong on the weight but I think it's right.

I think that was the time I was there, Alex was there (young then) and was firing shots in like a monster. Did not notice him and Grady playing though, but I was there with a friend and was mostly watching his matches.

I remember Alex when he went on the road at 15 (or was he 17?) One of them. He gave some Hi B players around Connecticut the 5 out and robbed them. He beat up Liscotti easily and went looking to play Ginky even up but i dont think they ever wound up playing.

I think I can find the tournament I am talking about in the archives of Joss events. I remember they had 3 that week and he won them all.
No one knew who he was but they sure did after that.

He also won about $20,000 playing backgammon. To add to the insult, he also won the 50/50 raffle. That was the icing on the cake

i remember when he won the raffle and jumped on the dancing bear !

big contrast there , Martel being a big man and Alex so small. lol

it was hilarious !
 
that's too bad that CC USA closed doors. It was on my list as one of the top places to play in the country. Back in 2003, I got my introduction to the Keith McCready show...with special guests Larry Lisciotti and Evgeni Stalev. Was a great time.
