I was watching a tape of the 2003 WPC and there is this Brittish commentator that yells and screams every shot. Does anyone know who that is and what the heck is wrong with him??

Would this be Syd Waddle?

Dude, I still can't give you more bad rep. What are your bad rep goals in life?

Yup, that would be Sid Waddell. I happened to enjoy his commentating, and truly believe that his wild style helped popularize nine ball in the UK.

The line I remember Sid most for was during the 2001 WPC in Cardiff, Wales. He shared the commentating booth with Kim Davenport, and at one point, when a player caught a lucky roll, Waddell's comment was, and I quote: "Oh, that lady luck, one day she's a b*t*h, the next day she's a babe." He really did say that, and I think Davenport was somewhat shocked by the comment.

I agree with you SJM, I think Sid is pretty entertaining. It takes a little getting used to him but once you do, he's very funny.

I've got all the World Pool Championship sets(some partial) from 1999-2005. I like the commentating and the way the whole thing is presented much more than Accustats or anything else I've seen yet.The two sets(2004 and 2005) I have from the UK(Sky Sports British TV) are uncut and top notch. The very best nine ball(presentation wise) I've ever seen.

I really like the color Sid Waddel adds to the commentary. Some Accu-stat commentators can be soooooooooo boring.I also like the perspective and enthusiam Steve Davis adds to the game.A legendary snooker star who truley loves the game of nine ball.

That's the kind of line that makes Sid Waddell such a great commentator, he injects life and enthusiasm into commentating like no one else. Sometimes he may get a little too excited yelling and screaming after a straight in nine ball, but I would much rather see him in the commentating booth than anyone else.

He kept screaming out gibberish, thought he had tourettes or something. My impression of him: "Now if he pots the black he just mighAAAAARRRFLAGORGBLAPZGKKORZZZ!!!!"

Is this the guy that does the Mosconi Cup? God is he annoying! By the way Sniper, you now officially have the greatest avatar of all time.

I'm probably the only person in North America who actually watches the dart matches on Fox Sports (hey, darts is big in Orlando and you just get sucked in...then there is the "dart babe" factor). Anyway, Syd is one of the dart commentators and he's like this legendary figure in England. I kinda enjoy his dart-speak, but I agree with 'Saurus that he's over the top in pool-speak, and definitely one of my mute-ants. 'Saurus, you ain't working hard enough for the bad rep; I find myself agreeing with you almost all the time (wo...did I just play straight man?).
