Crazy spots

What are some of the craziest spots you have given.

8 ball, I gave a BCA high 8 rating 3 games race to 7. I won 7-5. I then gave him 4 games and lost 7-6.

9 ball, I played two guys (BCA 8) at the same time. They each got a shot before I could shoot. It went hill/hill race to 7. Can't remember who won, I think they did. One of the two posts here, maybe he can remember.

I have given the 5 a few times but the person needed it, not very strong.

It seems some people will not play until they have the nuts, I have offered it a few times for a couple reasons... 1. it was to get a game and the second was to push myself. I never seem to get the nuts though, strange how that works.

the best spot you will get from me

you can use 2 pieces of chalk and i'll use only one

allergic to nuts

I've never asked for a spot, I did take one playing 1 pocket last year, but that was offered to me with out my asking, who am I to refuse, especially since I got the better end of that deal.

usually if I don't think I have a chance to beat someone straight up I don't think I should be gambling with them.

this was kind of a joke spot, no money was involved and it was a friendly game. My opponent had to miss twice before it was my half of the inning. Eventually i made him give me the breaks to make it a little fair.

This is one I've heard from a well-respected open player to a C+/B player...

"I'll give you the 1 and out, but I get the breaks and ball in hand after the break. And no, you can't win"

I give up this spot on occasion. I'm not quite good enough to beat the ghost consistantly, but I'll give up the one out. (I can play safe....I know..easy game, but I kinda suck)

I watched Jack Cooney playing King Kong some one pocket at Hard Times. He spotted Kong "no fouls". There was no penalty for Kong to scratch or lag into the pack, not hitting a rail.....Cooney won 6 games in a row at $100/game.

This is my favorite...

You beat a guy every way he can figure to play. You know he's done but he still has money left in his pocket...

"We'll play some 6 ball. I'll give you the breaks and the last 4! Get up!"

It's a TOTAL trap for the guy getting the break but it SOUNDS like such a great game most people jump on it.

It's VERY hard to make a ball on the break playing 6 ball. So the racker gets to the table with them spread out almost EVERY game. You have to be able to consistently run 6 and out to do this but it works wonderfully.

I won an extra $100 on this one last night. I beat him 9-1. I don't think he made a ball on the break the whole set. I did miss one out though. I love the bar box. :)

Enjoy,

In 9 ball I gave the 8,8,9. Thats right we used two...8 balls. The guy wanted the 789 so I thought if I got to the 6 before him I had a better shot at getting out then he did. I was right. In 1 pocket I gave 11-7 the break and a front to a front and a back all in the same game. I won 4 games in a row and the guy quits. He didn't want any more weight... he just quits.

I just got back from playing a guy some nine ball and the spot was that he got ball in hand every time him came to the table . What it did was take away any defensive shots on my part I had to try and get out every time .
I skunked him the first set then took a good thumpin on the next two sets .

I think I can beat this guy with this spot but I have to be shooting better than I did today !

I know its a odd spot but it was his idea and I just thought I would share it .

Happy Holidays Everyone !

I can't believe someone would actually ask for this spot....wow. He's either saying you're REALLY REALLY good, or that he's REALLY REALLY bad.

I don't take or give spots unless I can't find ANY kinda game; then I'll give some nit whatever he wants.

A variant of this is that the player getting the spot only has to hit the lowest numbered ball on the table to win. And if you are getting that spot, you probably can't win with it.

I typically don't give up spots. But I have on occassion given a handicap playing straight pool. The biggest one I have ever offered, I spotted 95 points going to 100. I won the first game and lost the second.

I have spotted 90 to 100 on a number of occassions. In some cases against people who are capable of runs of 5 and 7.

5 or 6 years ago...(maybe more...not sure) before I knew how good John Schmidt was, we played cheap straight pool. He gave me 50 going to 100...I won the toss so he broke. He left a shot and I ran 30 balls....then spectated for the rest of the set.

I played one pocket, the spot, I had to got to 5 and my opponent to 10 but I had to put the pocket reducers in my pocket, then we took turns with the 10-5 and the guy who had to go to 10 got the side pocket on his side of the table as well, played cheap games but it was fun, I won the first two games in one pocket with the pocket reducers in. Nate.

A guy offered me the 2 ball in 9 ball, beat him 7-2, then he said I can only give you the 3 ball and I beat him 7-1, then we played straight up and he quit when I was up 5-0, needless to say he was a better player than me but he had to much to drink and got a little cocky:)

Back when I used to play at family billiards alot there was 4 or 5 guys i always played ten, twenty, and forty a set. 2 or 3 of them I would give the last 6 and the break to, and 2 or 3 of them i would give the last 7 and the break to.

It wasnt easy but I believe I'm ahead on sets every 2 out of 3. I think I got a little better doing this.

Vannover

In Dallas, I have seen Bob Vannover play straight pool to 100 the catch is that Bob has to run 100 in a row or he goes back to zero, while you can add yours up, I have yet to see him lose a set with that spot.

They do a tournament in Miami that is handicapped and the better players regularly have to give up the 5/6/7/8 + 2 games on the wire racing to 6. That many balls to shoot combos at, the game gets a little ridiculous whenever your opponent has BIH.
