So… every Sunday the 3 of us have always played 9 ball and we always play a friendly version with quarters and dimes to keep things fun. 3 ball and 6 ball earns you a dime from your opponent and 9 a quarter. If you scratch you put a dime on the table, and next person who makes a “money ball” (3,6or9) gets to swipe the dimes from the table.

Now I’ve always played 9 ball in league, due to the lack of 9 ball teams I’m switching to 8 ball.

How can I turn 8 ball into a fun money game similar to the 9 ball version we have played? I’m sure some of you out there have done something similar. Thanks in advance.

Cutthroat

Each player is a group of 5 (1-5, 6-10, 11-15)

Rotate players, shoot until they miss. You may shoot any ball at any time, call pocket or slop. Last man standing wins the pot.

Great 3-man game with a full rack.

For 8-ball, you'll just have to play winner stays on the table or get a 4th for Scotch Doubles

I’ve played cut throat, we are more looking to play one on one, winner stays. And loser usually goes over to the other table and practices until he is up again
You could play “captains” 8 ball.

One person plays against the other two. Just keep rotating the captain every game.

Get a pill bottle and each game draw 3 peas. Each of you puts a nickel, a dime and a quarter up. Put the pea by each set of coins and whoever makes that pea gets that stack.

If the peas don’t get made that game carry it over to the next game.

🤷🏻‍♂️

For head to head two player 8 ball:

The difference in object balls made if you win is the pay out for friendly 8 ball. 8 ball counts also.

Pick a value per ball..nickle, dime quarter etc.

Two Examples:

*We play for one dime per ball in each one:

1) A break and run = 80 cents.

2) You both play safes and it gets sloppy. You finally make all your balls and the 8 to win. Your buddy made 3 of his.
8-3 = 5 so the payout is 50 cents.

Make sense? It does to me but that ain't saying much some days! o_O o_O :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

You can play captain

We play 8 ball with 3 people. Sort of like king of the table, but you can only be at the table for two games. This means you play all 3 people and every third game you sit. Sitting 1 in three games is nice. Especially if they want to get a drink, a smoke or bio break. Keeps the games moving.

We will do a race to 5. Every time you win you add a 1 game to your score.

Race to 5 can give the best player an advantage because the other two can end up splitting their wins while the better player gets to five quickly.

If you own the table, you break.

Nothing extravagant but it works well for three players.

You could do something like:
Each ball is $.10, and the 8 ball is $.30. Winning a rack is $1.00.

Example: Despite losing, the loser makes 6 of his balls, so he pays the winner $.40. Break and run is $1.00, regardless of whether any of the opponents balls were dropped on the break.

💡💡 Make is "simple" but a SWEAT Lol... However many balls are LEFT ON THE TABLE, THE LOSER OWES AT 10 CENTS PER BALL!! So, a run out by the breaker would result in the loser owing 70 cents (provided that none of his suit dropped on the break) (y)(y)

Why not just make it simple, you win the game, you get the money. Have not seen anyone playing a 3-6-9 type money game in 8 ball.
