I found you to be quite rude in your original post and said as much in my reply. I then left things alone as you bantered back & forth with a few people on here. Since you've once again felt the need to call Shawn out, I find the need to call you out and re-iterate that you're a classless act and the epitome of what gives pool & it's incumbents a bad rap. Once again you've felt the need to pick on Shawn for no reason. Ok, the first time it was because you were woofing at him. What's your excuse this time? You/Chris/whoever decided to back out of the game you woofed about and yet you find it necessary to call Shawn names. Since you asked. I played you in my first and only Viking 9 ball tournament a couple years ago. I drew you first and I was glad that I was getting to play a much better player than I. It turned out that I was highly disappointed. You whined so much about my racking that I told you to rack your own. Yes, that was a big mistake on my part in regards to trying to win. You won 7-4. Basically, you sucked the fun out of my day. I didn't expect to win, I was there to learn a few things, shoot better players and have some fun. I did learn not to be an ass.
After racking each game three times or more , it still wasn't good enough for you. I gave you good racks but I felt you were trying to intimidate me, which you did. If that is what it takes for a so called "pro" to beat an unknown old man, well, so be it.
As a "Pro", you should be a roll model, especially for the younger players.
The above is my thoughts of you. Since you asked for criticism, I assume you are trying to be a better roll-model. I commend you for trying to improve your personality and think it will help you in the future in regards to sponsorships.

I watched you play (though not intently) for a match at the Predator Florida Open. I believe you were playing Mika, though I'm not quite sure. The only thing I noticed was that you were playing a lot of positions too far away from your next ball. There were a couple of times I thought you could choose a different pattern that brought you closer to the next ball but provided more margin for error in speed regarding getting on the right side of your next shot. Your game was maybe a bit too cautious -- not a bad idea, but you have to be confident that your shot selection allows you to be aggressive and still provide a solid margin of error.

As far as a nickname, how about Shawn PUTnam NICKname -- Sputnik ala the USSR satellite (though I guess you wouldn't have a connection there).

And again. If you want to play with better players, Obviously we know alot about the rack. So if I didn't like the racks you were giving me, They were probably bad racks and you just didn't know any better.
Instead of blasting me on the internet for wanting a good rack,the same good rack I would give you, ask me for help and I would have bent over backwords to help you.

I got to see you play at the Predator Open in Jacksonville, FL in May of this year. I was quite impressed. That was my first opportunity to see many pros I haven't seen play before. You signed a 9 bal for me, and I think Robb Saez introduced me to you.
Anyhow, this about criticism: I liked your game. I watch pros and try to take things fom them for my game. One of the things I took from you was your precision. Each shot was just like the previous one. Your shot alignment was great, your preshot routine was flawless.
Keep it up, you'll be a world beater soon!

I think Shawn will attest, that the thing wrong with others racks is they don't always make sure it is all tight. In a sense this can benefit the breaker...because we all know where gaps are creates easier paths for pocketing balls. The problem with others racks (when rack your own) is that many of them are racking mechanics. They know just how to rack them to make the corner ball and 9 out of 10 time get position!

I am under the impression that a loose rack don't scatter the balls very well, therfore decreasing the chances of making a ball on the break and leaves more clusters. That is why I try my best to make sure all balls are touching. On many tables, this is difficult if not impossible.

Some gaps will produce a worse spread. Other gaps will allow paths for certain balls (e.g. the 9) to be made. If you study the rack, it's actually not that hard to figure out what's going to happen. Picture a loose ball as one that is not actually there. It won't go very far, but adjacent balls that are sent in that direction will do so unimpeded. Most loose racks are bad, but some rack riggers can take advantage of them.
