Well, it appears

that your handicapping method is 'skewed' if 6 players above a B can not get into the money, and all 3 players in the money are B players. Perhaps those B players need reviewed for skill level.

I hate places that just try to work the handicap system so that the ones that win are 'in the middle'.

Not Skewed at all

This was the first tourney were only Bs cashed. Every tournament has had an A, B and C cash. We have just changed the handicaps about 7 weeks ago. The previous handicap system was just too flawed.

The pool room owner has been sick for six months. The pool room players and I decided to restart the tournament with a new democratic system.

1) We basically set up a council that makes decisions on Handicap spots.
(true skill levels, if you wanted to say gamble with someone, what would the spot be?) etc.

2) If, say U win twice in 5 weeks , go up 1/2 spot. Then if You lose six weeks in a row, go back to original spot.

The original spots were terrible! The way the spots are now, there will not be too much movement in the system.

Jasper - the prize money these players received went into their pocket - the excuses the IPT players have received wouldnt buy you a happy meal. It looks as if the people at Crown Billiards can be trusted to pay their players - take notes.

I guess we should give Rodney directions on how to get there so he can get paid some money to put towards his kids, house, & car since he didn't get his big check.

No, we should be happy for Rodney.
He played very well in the world open and won a nice wad of cash.
When he receives has check you will have to eat crow!

I'll be more than happy to "eat crow" when the players get paid. However, during this time that the players haven't been paid, Rodney still has two kids, a g/f, a house payment, and a car payment... those things will NOT wait for the IPT check to come in. Kids have to be fed and bills have to be paid.... the bank can and will take your home and your car.

Jas,

With all due respect, I can understand going to bat for your guys, but I think it's out of line to denigrate the efforts of honest, hardworking people who are trying to do something for the game we all love.

Cheers,
RC

What are u talking about Jasper?
We have a great "honest" tournament every week. What is your worry about Thorsten? Thosten is a man and can take care of himself.
A couple of years ago he played in the NJ straight pool tournament put together by one of the greats Jack Calavito, may he rest in peace.
He won a measley $5000. And you know what, we all went and watched, and contributed to Jack's tournament. We paid entry fees to watch and supported the effort put forth by Jack.
Jack played at Crown nearly every nite. His photo is on the wall and has been since Crown was in buisness. Not because he was a great pool player, which he was, but because he was a good man and an ambassador of pool.

It's not always about the money, but to a KT and the likes of you it is.

Name one!

Can you name for us one Pro player who got into pool for its money? All these pros who 1st picked up a cue for the 1st time, say at age 12, were making career plans.

A couple of months ago, I was playing at Skyline Billiard's Tuesday Tournament, handicapped. It's on ave. X in Queens. Niels Feijen and his girl played. He took second and $200. I guess he traveled all the way from the Netherlands for a chance at $200.

Ahmed,

Why bother justifying anything to these A-holes..I can't believe the remarks that these guys put on here in regards to your handicapped tournament that they have never even played in. You're doing a good job running the show...and there haven't been any complaints from the PLAYERS.....I wouldn't be concerned with these online nits......

In regards to the sarcastic remarks about the pro's playing in our local events.....tons of pro's in the area have played in various local handicapped events, Kid Delicious, Ginky, Franky and Teddy G... to name a few.....and the payouts weren't stellar....maybe they do it for the love of the game and to stay in gear........
