Crying over spilt beer.

That would be nice, but never going to happen. The guy in question wouldn't have even been drinking the beer if it wasn't free. He's old and doesn't have much money.

or brains either apparently. Who puts their beer on the arm of a chair? Oh wait, I know, the same people who put drinks on a pool table.

Sorry for your misfortune, some people just don't respect other peoples property. I was playing in a tournament a few weeks ago and my opponent dropped his cue on the floor. I could tell he was very careless so I put my cues out of the way in a corner. The next thing he does is to move a bar stool..................RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY CUES!!
I remind him that my cues are right behind him and that I will move them out of his way, of course before I could walk over there and grab my cues he decides to reposition his stool and starts banging my cues around. WTF is wrong with some people? Is brain damage an epidemic?

If you ship it to JB, you may never see it again. They have great products, but very poor customer service and follow through. I still have not seem the 1x2 interior I ordered last year. I was assured by John that he would send both the case interior and the refund. Haven't heard a peep...

Some good advice has been posted here on cleaning the case. Might want to just by a new one if you are worried about messing it up. Tell the guy he owes you a new case.

EDIT: John has contacted me and issued a full refund. I guess some things slip through the cracks occasionally, but after I posted the above statement, John saw it and contacted me square up my order.
Thanks JB.

If the case is ruined anyway and it's probably already dried what I might do is use a hand lawn sprinkler and shoot a jet of water down into the case, follow that up with a long dryer lint brush and some warn soapy water and scrub it out as best as I could or rig up a long dish brush. Then rinse it all out, let it dry and hope for the best.
...or if it's at least a 2 X 5, I'd gut it and make it into a long 6 Pack cooler. either way you should be happy with the result

I have the same case in a 3 x 6. Since you have nothing to loose at this point - I'd try using a broomstick or dowel wrapped in a micro fiber cloth wet with cleaning solution. After cleaning all the pockets the best you can, wet a cloth with a solution to kill any mold (vinegar or something as suggested above). Then take a piece of 1" PVC and drill several holes along its length. Attach to some air source and blow dry the pockets. Let it sit for a couple of days and then test how dry it is with the broomstick wrapped with some paper to check for moisture. I haven't done this, but it's how I would try. The fabreeze idea is a good one too if any odor remains.

Detergent wash, vinegar rinse, shop vac out the water, sit in front of a fan for 2 or 3 days or until dry to the touch then, thrown in rice, cat liter or baking soda for a few days to get any remaining moisture out. Or you can mail it to me for disposal.<gggg>>

I went out and bought a tack puller. I've got almost all the tacks out, but the ones on the rounded ends are a pain in the ass. Once I get the bottom off I'm going to run a solution of water and laundry detergent through it (with a little bit of bleach to kill any mold), then rinse thoroughly with my car wash nozzle on the end of my garden hose. Then I'll lay it down in my garage with my electric leaf blower stuck in one end blowing through the case for a few hours. I'll finish the drying process with some silica crystals I bought from the craft store yesterday. I dumped a bunch of the silica crystals into the bottom of the case while I had it sitting overnight. I'm trying to get the rest of the tacks out today. If I can't pull them, I'm just going to slide the metal cutting blade from my reciprocating saw between the outer shell and the bottom and gently cut them off by hand, then replace them later with small headed screws like Chuck mentioned.

Worst case scenario, I ship the whole case to John and he replaces the interior for $65.

Alright, got the bottom off, didn't have to cut any tacks. Cut a slit in the fabric interior in the bottom for drainage. Didn't remove any material, so when the bottom goes back on the bottom fabric interior should be fully functional. Ran the cleaning solution through it, and rinsed the crap out of it with the soaker. It's hanging outside right now dripping water. Once the dripping has stopped, I'll unleash the leaf blower on it. I feel like this is going to work.

Im almost certain you will need to get slightly oversized tacks/brads to go back in those holes ( you may be able to use same holes in leather and manage to start a new hole in the frame....oversized fasteners in old holes takes out all of the skill of what leather giys do though :)

After the washing and the rinsing, I set the case up on blocks giving it a slight downward bias, and set my electric leaf blower up on blocks with the end inside the opening at the top of the case and let it run for about an hour. About halfway through blowing process I took clothespins and clamped the drainage slit I had created shut. I felt that after the hour the interior of the case was sufficiently dry to begin the next step.

I took Dale's advice and stole an old nylon stocking from my girlfriend. I stuck it on the end of a broom handle and slid it down into the case from the top, then took a funnel and filled it all the way up with silica crystals I had purchased from the craft store. I let that sit outside all day yesterday and in my garage all night. It was over 100 degrees in my backyard yesterday, so I'm sure the heat helped dry it. I took the stocking out a few minutes ago, and the crystals were still all dry (they turn pink when they need to be dried out again). I flipped the case over and repeated the process this time sliding the stocking in from the bottom of the case. I'll let that sit all day and night, and see what it looks like tomorrow.

Just feeling with my hand, the interior of the case feels dry, and the beer smell is gone. I think if anything, the interior is in better shape than it was before the beer went down. It's back to a nice vibrant blue, and feels softer to the touch.

Good deal, glad its coming out for the better!

Well, if this whole fiasco "improved" your case, it sounds to me like you owe a beer to the guy who caused this to happen! ;) :p ;)

For cleaning Irish linen I recommend spilling beer on it. Bud Light seems to work well.

A buddy spilled beer all over the butt and wrap of my cue. I brought it to the bathroom immediately and washed it with a wet paper towel. No beer smell, and 25 years of grime came off!

How did it come out?

It's turned out well. I am putting the bottom back on the case today. I've left it sitting in the sun in my backyard with a stocking full of desiccant in it all week, just to be extra safe. I have a backup case that I've been using while my JB has been drying, so I haven't been in a giant hurry to put it back into action. While removing the tacks, I did have one break off, so that one will be replaced by a small screw like you recommended.

Thank you everyone for your help and advice. It is much appreciated!
