Chris Hightowers book is fairly cheap my friend... for the price it will help you get started and save you time and money in this venture.

Believe me, cuemaking is really addictive... and could be financialy draining startting up:)

Learn wood and machinery first before assembly.
CH's cue assembly might not be the same as DZ's.
In fact their A-joint config. are already different.
Cut wood for DZ first and pick his brain about wood.

ok

I'm willing to do whatever he needs me to do to pick his brain about cuebuilding. I've been looking at machinery, but want to know what, where, and why before making that decision. I'm going to learn how and why to do something first then worry about construction. I'm only making S/P though.

Search web for info on tip replace, ask the cuemaker, shaft maintenance, and etc. But don't forget Dieckman website http://www.cuemaker.com
Section on Dieckman written words and his download section on you want to build a cue. Just one strong advice - be honest with Dz when he ask a question and give him an honest answer, but watch both his hands and listen to his instruction. Even after you done the same task 100 times. I assume you have replace tips and steam dings/dents from cue shafts? Libraby full of books on machinery and woodworking. Last remember cuemakers are alway learning new knowledge everyday- so you are on a lifetime learning venture. Good luck!!!
