I have an idea for a differnt style cue case that I have never seen or heard of wondering should I look into a patent is there a way to make money in this area.

patents are costly and take a lot of time

i have an idea and have constructed a device for people that have injured hands or cannot hold a shaft properly. one of my buddys saw it, showed it to a few of his buddies and they thought it would be accepted.
i gave him half the rights, he was to patent and sell them, i was to design and manufactor them.

after about the 4 or 5 time talking with at patent attorney, he said the patent cost and time involved far out weighted what we would benifit in the end.

Patents are sometimes tough. Unless you know that you came up with the wheel, or sliced bread, it can cost you thousands of dollars just to find out that somebody has a patent on it already....

Don't waste your money.

If you have a good idea build and sell as many as you can to saturate the market before someone else makes a copy.

At least you get in on the ground floor.

problem is I am not a case maker just an idea for a feature I think pool players would love in a case.

Remember, you are talking about a very small portion of a niche market. Most people don't care what a case does, other than that it holds their cues. It takes money to make money and there isn't a lot of money in pool.

You got Jack there one of the premier case makers, and also JB (Barton), see what they think. Justis case designs are one of the most copied ones out there, he would know about what you are looking for.

I see you are in Lowell, head to Ayer at all? I'd like to know what you are thinking about. I'm there just about every Tuesday for the tournament at the billiard cafe.
