viking/mcdermott just to name 2. are times that bad where you have to make inferior pool cues for under $100 with your name on them. I think it cheapens the good quality cues your company put out in the past. Some of which I own. Can you please leave the cheap cue making to over seas crappy companies that sell to Walmart, Kmart, and every other mart. Please go back to making quality cues pool players would be proud to play with.

They would likely go out of business.

In fact, Viking did go out of business. They were resurrected by a buyer. That buyer started the import side of the business.

I understand you passion on the matter, and I don't entirely disagree. But it is idealistic.

Most of their import products are in fact pretty good anyway, and are strter cues for a lot of people. Heck, for a lot of people that's as far as it goes. Asian does not necessarily mean crappy. Adam and Mezz would be examples.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't think it's realistic. I also don't think it really degrades those brands.

I can't speak about Viking but McD Lucky line of cues are solid hitting and priced just right.I use my wifes Lucky cue once in a while, so what that its pink.... Love the reaction of bar bangers getting beat by a guy with a pink cue

You could easily throw Meucci and several other names in that hat as well, it's survival mode in this economy I suppose. Problem is, as a buyer though the cues may shoot okay, there is just no resale value there, due to both quality and production quantities.

With all the great small cuemakers we have, I'd much rather support those guys, many of whom will make a very nice plain(ish) cue for not alot more money, that will hold a much higher percentage of resale value.

As long as their higher priced cues are made here I see no problem. It's clearly stated in their catalog what is being made in the U.S.A.
If I'm spending $100 give or take I don't care where they're made as long as they're straight. A cheap cue is for taking to the bar where it might get dinged or stolen.

cheap cues

There is more profit in cheap production cues then custom cues.

There is no one to blame besides ourselfs.
How many time have you heard a friend tell another friend (you dont shoot good enough to buy a 300.00 cue.

And then the friend suggest some cue that is better used as a harpoon
or a car jack handle .

Everyone has a different opinion, bottom line is a player from P I kick everyones ass with a 12$ cue.

Having the right tools to do the job helps, but tools dont make the mechanic.

I believe they do now.

A while back McDermott blurred the line, but that ended when people got mad about it.

I believe now the imported Viking and McDermott lines use a different logo and branding.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I whole-heartedly agree with your assessment, and can assure you that we here at Steamer Cue Sports Ltd., has never, and will never, sell a cue for under $100.
Our lowest priced cue, the Miracle, retails for $101. The deluxe model Miracle sells for $102. The difference between the two is the deluxe model has the word "Deluxe", hand written on the butt. Both are available in only one weight, and only one color, and can be found in pool halls all across the midwest.
Our motto says it all: "If it's a good cue, it's a Miracle."
