My friend is arranging a vacation in Chicago area probably around April/May and he thought about buying a pool cue while there and was looking for some information on cue dealers and places he could visit and try out a few cues to choose the best. He's looking for a low budget cue like Joss, Viking, Falcon or Schon for a couple of hundred bucks. Can you give me some addresses he could visit ?

Chris's Billiards on Milwaukee Av sells cues. Joe Gold's Cognoscenti cues are made in the city also maybe a little too highend for him but I think they are are Ravenswood street. Good Luck Philw

Schuler Cue is located in a suburb of Chicago. They would only sell Schulers however.

last time i was at Chris's on Milwaukee av.was april 2006 they had about 3 cheap cues for sale..when asked about a better selection they could care less......a Great Pool Hall with a very nice pro shop with alot of cues is ProTyme in Orland Park,illinois..on 94th av.just north of 159th........708 403-0600:)

I agree with the Pro Tyme billairds statement. They carry customs by Jacobyand Olivier. They also have Players, McDermott and a few others. They have a web page that shpws some of their cues. Just search for them by name on the internet and you will be able to find the site. Their is also a nice store called Cue and Cushion Billiards on 75th street in Woodridge. You can probably do an internet search on the phone number. The last time I was in there, they had a good selection of the major brands.

If you want great service / collection, look up Erik Lee at erikleecues.com. Call him beforehand though if it's not something on his site, he'll be able to meet you up in Chicago. Erik's got a ton of references on AZ.

Yeah, I was going to say this. Bought a scruggs from him and it was a good transaction.

In the city, or inside of I-294, there really isn't a popular "go to" place to try and buy a cue. Chris's, and other places have sort of a token selection and maybe he might get lucky and find something at one of those places, but I wouldn't raise any expectations. If he's really serious about shopping for a cue, he's going to have to venture out an hour or more out into the burbs. Protyme in Orland Park would be a good option, maybe Erik Lee cues in Aurora, and there's another place, southwest of the city off of I-55, Southwest Billiard Supply or something like that, there may be others.

Hope he has a great trip!

Edit- For some reason there was only two responses to this thread when I wrote this, now I see 9. :) Looks like we have a consensus!

Thank you all for your input. As always, AzB provides the goods.

Hmm, I didn't know Erik Lee was located near Chicago, I've pointed one of my friends towards his direction and he got a really nice Schon Ltd from Erik.
