Cue Designs

I love to come up with new designs, but I cant afford to have them built. Much cheaper to create in Autocad.

Please let me know what you think of them. Or even better, propose some new ideas to me.

sweet

I don't know if this is against the rules or not but I am going to start building pool cues. Since I have no name for myself yet I am going to be doing this cheaply, if you want me to make you one, let me know.

Cool. Maybe you can also give us an idea on your experience with building a cue (working with a lathe, inlay etc) and what goes into the structure of your cues. Do you have wood stocked already? What type of machinery do you have. Things like that. This may help in bringing in orders. Or just build them and offer them for sale here.

I like Cue X - how long does it take to produce a design?
Ed Scott

If I already have a clear picture of how the cue will look like, it usually takes half to one hour to complete.

I took about a day to finish cue x. Anyway, can someone come up with a name of that cue? I think it deserves a better name than an anonymous X.

you obviously work with autocad on a regular basis. in what capacity?
i know the basics of autocad how long do you think it would take to learn how to draw a cue? which version do you use? do you have a file you could email that i could learn from?

Quite untrue, I only learnt AutoCAD from engineering school last year and just did pretty basic stuff. I learnt most of what I know by experiment. I think it should take less than a couple of days to get the hang of it.

I'm using Acad 2002.

Where do you get the wood patterns for hatching. I have adcad 2000, but my designs are not as pretty as yours.

I love these (2) Designs...

Oh no!!!

The design for "cue X" has been stolen!!!

(although if I ever had the opportunity to have it built I would probably use curly maple instead of ebony, and tinker with the veneer colors a bit). ;)

Of course I would call it "cue Y" just so everything is on the up & up. :D

Seriously, some great designs. I need to find the time to learn Autocad. I would love designing cues like that.

When your using the program, can you "zoom in" and see the design, or parts of it, in greater detail?

One more cue.

Hot it is so hot .tilipwood would be a killer on that with all white Ivory and the green will be hard to do, I'll love to see jade points ..Now holla if u hear me ..... :D :D :D

I use autocad to do the simple layouts. Just to show what I am looking for.

These are very nice though... maybe I can e-mail you a few inlays and we can collaborate on a 3 d model...

Or maybe post the process you go through for the actual wood grain hatching and the 3-D rendering.
I've drawn up some cues that i would like to see in 3-D. After seeing yours, mine look sick laying there, in their 2-D dismalness...

How about

Painted Lady

Named after the butterfly.

Hi guys. Thanks for your kind comments over the last 2 weeks. I was not in town during that period and might have failed to reply some of your PMs.

I am currently working on a new project to design a Black Boar-ish cue that will be named Le Trois Mousquetairs.

Sure I can zoom in, which parts would you like?

Anyway, what do you mean by cue x's design being stolen? I got most of the design cues for it from Richard Black's Athena, so I can't call it a original creation.

Yeah, I really like cue X also, but it would be a tricky one to build!
