Cue Designs

Please let me know what you think of them. Or even better, propose some new ideas to me.

On the Cue X...would a spliced shaft of that kind can be used as a playing cue? Or is it just purely for display?

Btw...very nice designs...

I have never played with one so I wouldn't have a clue. Perhaps someone else could enlighten use.

As mentioned earlier, that X cue is a Richard Black inspired cue. The Athena should be playable but its so risky to play with such an expensive cue. Owners will potentially depreciate it by playing with it.

But if one can be made at a much cheaper price with a good structural integrity, then I don't see any reason why it play poorly... or at least have a decent hit. And I must agree that building it will be a challenge. The points and splicing should be measured, cut and spliced exactly. ;)

athena (Icon)

rblacks athena design was taken from brunswick - so you should really attribute the design to brunswick.

by the way i have athena no. 2 if you would like to purchase one.
dear Icon , I own a athena also and it is not a copy from brunswick , it is a dual spliced, very heavly inlaid and very distinct !! if that is a copy of brunswick, then every 4 point cue by every cue maker today is a copy of brunswick! I have been watching this forum for over a year, and i must say it is very entertaining ! but people like yourself that are very condissending and un appreaciated to true talent, and draw people out with your dry comments and rudness (THEN REMOVE YOUR POST,WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?) THE CUE WORLD IS TO SMALL AND YOUR NOT HELPING YOURSELF IN IT  ''WE MUST ALL REMBER THAT MONEY DOES NOT CONSTITUTE KNOWLEDGE

So the very least suggestion I could give is create a shaft specifically for playing and the spliced shaft for display. I guess that would do the trick...

cuegirl - i dont think icon's comments were meant to be rude or condescending

How about

Painted Lady

Named after the butterfly.

Chris

Sort of off subject but your "painted lady" reminded me. I sold a custom cue to a player in Ireland a couple of weeks ago. Evidently he didn't tell his wife anything about it. When it was on its way, he told her his "Montana Lady" would be arriving. Hope that part went well. Not sure I would get away with it. btw - He is thrilled with the cue.

Here's my latest and my most tedious project up to date. I spent a whole week designing, redesigning and modelling the cue.

It's called Le Trois Mousquetaires.

Enjoy.

All I can sow is WOW!!!! That is a gorgeous cue. Probably very expensive to make. Maybe one of the custom cue guys can give us an idea of price.

That is truly an amazing cue. You definately have a talent for design!!

Jim

I like this design.

One more cue.

I'll name it Pink Panther.

Can I have the rights to it? ;)

Changes I'll apply are:

#1 - No points.
#2 - Rings at BCDE, whereby BC and DE are facing each other. The ring will be 3 gold rings at 1/16 inch apart with a Rocks Head (Chess) (something like a castles watch tower) and still outlined with Green.
#3 - The Green rings on the handle will have 3 gold rings as well.
#4 - Wrap will be White with Green spec.

Could you do this changes and show me how it looks?

Huh? I dont get it. Do you mean a 3-sectioned wrap? That's very special.

This one is more of a Photoshop job. Many interesting designs can be created from this piece of rosewood burl in future.

Tifosi - Love your designs. Especially the 3 musketeers. Allow me to share one of mine - its done in 2-D and design is plain jane.

If you guys send me your rough sketches and descriptions I could lay it out in this kind of format.

Whoa. I don't think theres anything plain about your deisgn. What program did you use to create it? It is very cleanly done, whereas my Acad deisgns are more or less pixellated when i render with the materials.
