Cue Designs

I just thought of sharing with you a few designs i made while killing time at work. I made these all in powerpoint and if the pics are blurry, i'll try to fix it.

If i had inadvertedly copied someone's design or a cuemaker's original, my apologies. I just couldn't think of anything productive to do today. :D

I'm also thinking of a having a new custom cue made and i'd appreciate all your comments, both good or bad. :)

Thanks!

You may be on to something -- you'll never know what your first drawings can lead to. Butt Cap bumper is similar to a Meucci. Some colors too. With so many good cuemakers around, it will be a challenge to find something you can say is 100% not based on another design. ;)

Monski, love the #2 design would love to see snakewood inside those ovals. Thay are all great designs though.

Not mine

Those are allenjo's designs. I was merely pointing out that he made nice ones to start. Who knows, if he gets really good at it (including cue structure) maybe he can design for us too. hehehe ;)

How was that done, BTW I like # 3, and 4. :D

Hi there! I only did that with powerpoint. Thanks so much...i know i could do a better 3d looking cue with the right program. Next time i'll use photoshop to get accurate looking inlays. :)

Thank you so much...i'm constantly reading the threads and trying to familiarize myself with the pros & cons of cue various cue structures. I shall strive to improve and hopefully can design cues for you guys. :)

here is another one i made a while ago...southwest style but birds eye handle & butt accent. For this pic, i used real hardwood photos...purple heart forearm, gaboon ebony, maple veneers with bloodwood inlay and ivory diamonds. The butt features a hexagon window with the same veneer & inlay pattern as the forearm. I was trying to get a tribal spear shape for the ivory inlay at the butt sleeve but this was all i could muster. I hope you like this.

hi joey

i just played around with the shapes. I bet you do better sketches than i do. I'm not quite versed with Corel. I just try to draw with powerpoint & plug in the hardwoods with photoshop. The pic above came out a little grainy but i did use pics of hardwoods there...even with the veneers.

I'm actually in the hunt for a custom cue and for the past week i've been doing designs. I just needed opinions from you guys since you're more exposed to cue designing & building. Thanks and i hope i posted these pics on the right forum.

Sir what do you think about this? Bubinga forearm & butt with maple & cocobolo veneers, 6 abalone points. Birds eye handle and the butt has 6 reverse abalone points & veneers. Also, i put a hoppe style ivory ring for an accent.

The pics come out grainy when i attach them. That's why you can't see the wood figures. Very sorry. By the way, im no cuemaker and not related to anyone at that :)

I like it. I might steal your design. :D
Too big of abalone do not look great though. Prolly just diamond or spear inlay.
I don't even know if abalone come that big.

Allenjo, if I could suggest something - the pics are great btw but I'm not sure if your forearm, handle length is really that way (dimensions). If I could approximate it the forearm would be around 16" handle 8-9" and buttsleeve 4-5" for a 58" cue. did you design it this way?

thanks so much for the suggestion. i will try & be more accurate the next time and try to proportion everything. no i didn't design it this way. just made approximations but i appreciate you comment though. :) i was more into the appearance & harmony of the design

.

It's ok sir since i'm no cuemaker...the fact that someone likes the design is more of an honor for me.

Thanks for the tip on abalone...at least i know that abalone doesn't grow in humungous proportions :)
