I recommend you take the cue to someone who engraves cues and is knowledgeable about cues. Here is why. I took a Jaeger LeCoutre Reverso ladies gold and stainless watch to my friend, a professional jeweler, to engrave my daughter's initials on the case top that reverses and slides under, to expose the time piece dial of the watch. This is a unique design from the 30's to flip over to protest the crystal. Flipped under, the watch looks like and initial bracelet. One of her HS graduation gifts.
We carefully reviewed how I wanted it done, which is how I have seen every such watch, in person and in ads. It is just the way there are....only he did not spell the obvious out to the guy in the back room doing the engraving. He got the font right, but engraved it underneath the case of the watch not realizing how it reversed, ruining the value of the watch worth over $6K.
Eighteen months and two thousand dollars later, Jaeger supplied the part and straightened out the matter.
My lesson, take it to the source most knowledgeable.
