This is Derek from J&D. Jim was up all night with e-mails. We'll be posting the lucky two's name as soon as the emails slow down just a little. We are also working to put together some pics to post and maybe a website. Thanx for the enthusiasm. Course, can't hardly go wrong with a free cue, right?
And as far as playing in a wheelchair, I think that everyone should try it. Makes you really appreciate your legs. I have spent some time in one recently thanx to a young girl on a cell phone. Made me really appreciate what I got. Don't think I'll take on a Pontiac with a Yamaha again!

I will gladly give you masterpiece a tryout

I am in N.C. and use a few old cues but would love to try something new, Thanks leonard

unfortunatly.. i can say from experience.. the yamaha will always loose...

and knock on wood that i never had any kind of problem with the current yamaha... last few bikes have been disasters.. had my leg re-attached.. another inch i would have lost it completly.. i was very very lucky.. and you know what.. i love my motorcycle almost as much as i love pool.. i gained lots of great friends who i would consider family by playing pool and owning a motorcycle..

Kinda goes without saying.....but for the two that wind up with the J&D Customs....PLEASE start a new thread with your reviews. Obviously, everyone will want to know what the "hit" is like....or what it compares to with respect to the "well known" cues out there. That's what most seem to care about the most. "This cue hits like a XXXXXXXXX cue I have/used to have."

But the fine details should be in there, too. Stuff like shaftwood quality (color and growth rings per inch), quality of the wrap, luster of the finish, balance point from the buttcap, etc. Also, little things like the ferrule being flush to the shafts, visible grains in the phenolic collars and caps, etc.

Like I said earlier today....J&D has managed to stir up the waters with these cues...and nobody's even seen them yet! Nice work, guys!

I think Jimbo is kinda right on this, though....AZB is full of sharks. I don't mean that in a bad way. These guys know their cues, love their cues, and are always on the lookout for the next budding Balabushka! If they see or play with something they really like....they're more than happy to shout it from the rooftops. That said, if they see or hit with something they DON'T......it can get a little ugly!

No pressure, Jim and Derek!! :D :D :D

Be good,

Mark

Tell you what.....

...I sent you a PM. If you want me to try the cue and have some of the guys that play around here try it out, I will be happy to do that.

Not only that, but after a month or so playing with it, I will gladly pass it on to another trusted AZer with the understanding that they play with it for a while and pass it along to another AZer.

It's not that I wouldn't like to have a cue for free, but the idea is to have folks try your cue and give their opinion, and this seems like a method to me that would do that. Heck, the reason I do this is to try out other cuemaker's cues, anyway.

However, I would ONLY pass the cue on to someone that I have dealt with that would also pass it on.

If that idea works for you, it works for me.

To add to that idea, say you have 12 Azers. each try the cue for a month. For example, Joe trys it first and then ships to me and then I ship to the next person on the list. This way you get 12 opinions at least. Also the cue gets around to different geographic areas. Just a thought.

i really like the idea of passing it around. i doubt most of us NEED the cue anyway, mostly just interested in what it would hit like. besides if somebody likes it and only has it for a month, theyre much more likely to buy one!

I am from upstate ny and i have been playing pool/3cushion billiards for over 40 years. i have played on every type of table you can imagine. I have both a smooth stroke for straight pool and 9 ball plus a billiard stroke which is a little harder and i use alot more english on a ball. I feel that the difference between playing both games would give you the best over all report for the money/ or what you are looking for...I can't be any more honest than that.....................mike

Seems to be some interest in you having a website. I sent you a email about putting you a website together, I just wanted to post this to make sure the offer wasnt lost in the mass e mails.
I take care of chad carters web site.
http://www.cartercustomcues.com
I am not to far from you so would be able to come and take photos for you.
I register you a domain put the site up and host it in exchange for a cue.
I am currently going to school for CIS geared toward web design. This really helps me with a resume when I finsh school . It also allows me to gain experience.
This is also a open offer for any cue maker that may want a website designed and hosted. But I may not be able to come and take the pictures myself if you are to far away.
thanks will

I think the idea of passing the cues around is perfect! Willie cue did this on RSB and got many positive feedbacks on his product!! It also prevents someone from pulling a bs story to the cuemaker as has been done by some before on this board!!! A golf forum I am also on has many of the vendors do this with new products on an almost daily basis, but they draw names and the 12th person on the list gets to keep it!!

I think having AZer's pass the cues around is a great idea.I belive that you would get better feed back and reach alot more areas, mabe have each person play with it for two months and then pass it on. We are all very intrested in your cues and we know alot of players and would be more than happy to spread the word about a another brand of cue.I have some cues and am always looking for more my list includes( Schon,Joss,Blue Grass,Southwest,Scruggs,Samsara, and a Black Boar) more to come. I do play with them all and have some that I perfer to play with more than others.

I really hate to be the rock in the road here but I just don't think "passing" the cue around is a very good idea.

You're just asking for trouble. Along with not that many people actually getting their hands on the cue over the long run, you are setting this up to cause more problems than it's worth. There will be hurt feelings when one person isn't the next, people getting mad and saying that the cue is just passing around a certain little circle, and not only that but the person that has the stick will go through endless PM's and the forum will have endless posts on the subjects above.

I say let J&D choose two people and be done with it.

Now if one of the persons who gets the stick doesn't like it then maybe they should pass it along for a second opinion, but if they like it, keep it and use it.
