Cue insurance

I got my cues insured this week. Not for when they're at my house, allthough that's covered too,
but for when they are not at my house. I leave one case with my McDermott and X-Breaker in a
locker at the poolhall and I play in weekly league.

Now if any of my cues are stolen or damaged, whether during play in my poolhall, or when playing away,
they're covered. The same when they're stored in my locker, or even in my car, as long as they're locked.
I am a pretty forgetful guy, I've left my break-cue behind once allready and left my full case at the
register more than once. Haven't lost anything yet though.

Someone on a dutch forum mentioned this insurance and turns out it was affordable. I pay 50$ a year
for a $1400 coverage. I got a little extra coverage because I have a few cues coming, I can raise the
coverage further if necessary. I feel a little better getting the more expensive cues now.
My case and all the other items in it are also covered off course.

Do any of you guys in the States have some similar insurance for your cues?

i was told by my insurance agent that with my deluxe home insurance policy that i have that the cues would be covered.i have one of the top 5 companies here in the U.S.

i dont think we have anything like that in the states. They would probably be covered under a homeowners policy if destroyed or stolen from home, cant imagine an insurance company covering you leaving them at another location though.....they might said they do, but i bet the story would change if you had a claim (in the us).

Yeah, my homeowners insurance covers items outside the home also. Declared my cues and keep lots of pics to protect my customs! Would have to pay the deductible of $250 if they were stolen, but wouldn't sweat that with considering the value of all my stuff.

Can anyone recommend any insurance companies to check out in the States?

Now that I moved to NYC, I no longer have AAA car insurance. If I were still in LA, I'd have looked into them for renter's insurance and additional coverage for cues outside the apartment, etc.

But now that I'm sort of a free agent again, can anyone suggest a few places to look that offer this coverage? Lord knows if my case were missing I wouldn't have the dough to replace my coveted cues... not that I wouldn't have 7 spare cues to play with, but that's not the point, right?

home owners or renters insurance generally covers it. 9balllvr

Double-Dave, since you keep some of you cues in a pool hall locker, what is the Pool Hall insurance coverage for their locker if items are stolen??

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's your own responsibility, I had to buy my own lock for it, and only I have the key.
I'm pretty sure that in most cases my cues would be insured anyway, at least partly. I justed wanted to get rid of any possibilities, and get the full insurance myself, that way I won't have to follow people around in case something happens.

many poolrooms can not afford insurance (especially those of us in FLA) so personal cues left by a customer are at their own risk. usually the roomowner tells the patron this when they leave the cues. I think insurance for nice cues is a good idea and am thinking about purchasing ins when my custom cue is finished.

A friend of mine had his case stolen from his truck in the parking lot of a pool room. They broke his window and took it among a few other items. It actually was one of those McDermotts with the crown in the butt sleeve and purple veneers and inlays that were given only as tournament prizes ( and not for sale), it was pictured in the color section of the 2nd edition of the blue book. Anyway, it did end up being covered under his homeowners policy. I am not sure how he managed that, and there was some question at the beginning, but he did get paid ( at least most of it). Again I do not know all of the details, but I know it was covered, and was paid. Just thought I would throw that in to the pot. If anyone knows of a good affordable option of insurance that would cover custom cues in the case of theft ( other than standard home owners) please let me know, I would really be interested. I mean a real policy that will cover even a semblance of REPLACEMENT VALUE, not a depriciated sum. A great example would be if you had an original Balabushka that sold brand new for around $150, they would depreciate that number and say it was worth around $65. Try going out and buying a new custom cue with that! I came across this issue when I had a classic car insured. The car sold brand new for around $4000 ( in 1972) so twenty years later by their estimation it was only worth maybe $1000 or less. You have to go with a stated value policy. I would like to know if they have something similar for cues.
