Cue joint pins ?

Why do some cue joint pins that are 3/8x10 have V bottoms and some are Flat bottoms between the threads? Will a standard 3/8x10 Predator shaft fit both pins?

The V cut threads locate in the shaft by the major diameter of the pin. The flat bottom locate in the shaft threads on the minor diameter of the pin.

Fitting a Predator will depend on who made the male pin. The minor diameter varies from different manufacturers.
 
Ive got both style of pins, and they both fit the threads i cut with my tap. My Carolina Cue also has the flat minor thread and a v groove threaded shaft fits on it fine. Im not sure if thats true for all the pins out there, but thats my experience with em.
