Put a thin piece of leather of whatever the correct thickness turns out to be, on the end of the pin.

I have never had a problem with the occasional old thread being brought back. Some of them are worth it, this one...not so much.

If you chalk the cue, there is no longer a warranty.

They likely turn the joint and shaft as a unit at finishing. That process doesn't ensure the pin is centered because it's not being spun on center.

McDermotts are made this way as most cheap imports.

McDermott cues are not made like that. The shafts are fitted to the finished butts before spraying the cue.

They may be lightly sanded to get a perfect blend but not what you describe. I know what you are talking about. Some cheap cues I could not even make a shaft for the screws were so off center.
