cue makers actually taking orders

Call Troy Downey at Mueller Recreational Products. He specializes in radial pin joints.
Settle on a design for a butt and he’ll build you a butt. He is a wonderful cue maker. It will probably take him a year but, worth the wait. When he gets started, he’ll probably have you send your shafts to fit and finish.
You won’t need to spend $3K either.
Here are some pictures of a simple custom he made for me a couple of years ago:

I don't know what his waiting period is now, but count me among those happy with a Keith Josey cue. He's known for his celtic designs, but he's fully capable of doing 4 point cues. That's what mine is...4 points with 3 veneers. Great feedback with a stiff hit. Yes, radial pin. The points are dead even with needle sharp tips. Pantograph, I believe.

Dealing with Keith and his wife was a pleasure.

Sorry I'm so lousy with pics...an analog old man trying to survive in a digital world used a point & shoot I was gifted. Took these several years ago..the Josey veneer work shows, and you can barely see one of the sharp points in pic 2. Like I said, radial joint. Great finish as far as I'm concerned.

I know Keith Josey is definitely still taking orders.

It sorta depends on what you're looking for too. The requirements you have are pretty general. A couple of other names I can think of off the top of my head would be Pat Diviney and Rick Howard.
Josey is 18-24 months out after the 20% deposit according to the email i received from them this morning.

I have a Josey from 2009, I keep going back to it. Keith and Chris Nitti both have a firm hit. Their tapers are similar. I think they are both easy to work with but Keith and Sherri are just pleasant and straight shooters. no pun intended

Go with Tascarella.

During covid they quoted me $2500. $300 per ring.

Not sure how much they are now.

Don’t buy used tasc. It will be more money for less cue. No rings.

It’s worth the wait. Don’t design something and have them make it. Tell them you want what they think is good. A true Tascarella.

If you want to design your own any garage guy will make it for you. They will make anything.
