Cue Making Question

Out of curiosity, what is the general wait time for your customers to receive a cue from you from point of order to delivery?

I know that there are a lot of variables that can affect delivery, but on average, if you were to build a cue out of a blank adding Joint, Wrap, Inlays (nothing too intricate), Shaft, clear coat, etc... how long would you estimate you could deliver? Taking into consideration that you have a few other cues in the mix as well...

I was just wondering....:o

Normally it's 8-12 months...JER

really? my i just placed an order on a cue, and i was told my wait time was only 4 months...
Imo if the blank and shaft are already half a mm to final size, 4 months is doeable.

Waiting time

Currently I'm backed up about 6-9 months. If I have to start with untapered blanks that are already 2-3 years air seasoned add about 3 months. If the design is not complex then maybe less but that has to be discussed ahead of ordering. It won't go ahead of others just be squeezed around it. Some processes can be done while doing others.

I think some are referring to aclimating time and some are referring to delivery time due to current work load. Someone who has no other cues going may be able to do a blank conversion in a few months.

Four to six months sounds about right but so does four years, is all depending on what cuemaker is doing the work. Also the blank.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was just curious as I am awaiting a cue from a cue maker but the estimated delivery date keeps getting pushed back, it went from 10 weeks to 4 months and there is no "estimated completion date" on the horizon... Should I start getting worried? :frown:

no. i wouldnt get worried. sometimes you can be 2 months into a cue and have something go wrong and start all over again. maybe his workload got very big. maybe bad time of year. ect...

every maker is different.

right now i have bem forearms and handles that are ready for assembly final turn. so i could reasonably finish a cue in 30 days with that wood. its been sitting for years and my supplier is in nj so years before that. last pass was 6 months ago
