Cue Picture Taking

Not sure where the best place for this is so here it is.

Some here take amazing cue pictures , which I'm sure many of us know , is not an easy thing to do with shiny round objects such as cues.

I was hoping 'they' could give some tips for getting the best pics.

I'm not so much concerned with hardware but more like lighting and setup , perhaps exposures or whatever. Filters? IDK

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :thumbup:

Take lost of pictures, edit out the bad ones, only show your best work

Cues are tought because the shiney surfact.

Use defused light, or Light bounced off a white card, (White foarm Coreboard) as direct light in most cases cases HOT SPOTS.

Option (2) is to photograph on a cloudy day outdoors when the light produces few shadows, or hot spots.

Well I'm looking for maybe more details.

I shoots pics outside (shade or overcast) and can get good color but the brightness washes the fine details. Inside I can get stellar detail but not so accurate colors. And currently I'm having trouble getting both of those with high contrast focal points (Ivory/Ebony) at medium , internet safe, resolutions.

Some outside and inside pics. To avoid shadows outside, I tried use my flash with a bouncer. The next step will be the canon 85 1.8 lens. I think with this lens I can play more with some low aperture pictures to get interesting views.

Bama Cues always has great looking cue pics in the for sale section . . . probably just a digital at the house, BUT they do look really good.
