Cue Prefence

Over time I have noticed that my preference from cues has gone from plain to increasingly fancier in design. I have only owned sneaky petes and merry widows up until this point and now I have a predator LE3.... By fancy I just mean design work. I now find myself being more attracted to the idea of multiple inlays and nice designs.

Did Anyone else go through this? Or maybe the opposite where the went from fancy to simple?

I like fancy just for the fun/beauty of it. Just got an LE4 last week. Enjoy your LE3....nice cue.

Funny I was just thinking about the same thing a few weeks ago and in my case it's the exact opposite.

Every new cue I've bought in the last couple of years has been a plain jane with no decorations. Just beautiful woods that play like a mofo.........to each his own I guess....

I'm sure I'm wrong about this and it's also all my imagination but after having owned a lot of the same cues from the same makers meaning plain janes and very decorative to medium decorative I feel like the plain janes play better and have a better feel.

Again, all just my imagination, but one top rated cue maker with whom I've done a great deal of business over the years and have various versions of his cues actually did NOT laugh when I told him what I felt in the hit, but said "I guess you could argue with the plain cues having little or no wood removed to make for the decorations that they might give a little better feel".

That's the way I feel about it too.

Just seem to be solid hitters.

The progression of cues from my first all cocobolo Palmer cue .......to my custom Runde Schon cue .......to my (4) ivory joint cues......and I hope to score my 2nd ivory joint Prewitt at the Mosconi Cup......and I'd like to also get a JMW when I get back to playing pool after I heal.......the butt sleeves on my cues are pretty handsome as well. So hopefully the OP can see it's easy to progress from plain design cues to more elaborate designs.
