Cue problem

I have a practically new cue that has an issue. The entire cue is ebony, but I can tell that the handle is a different piece than the forearm. The finish has either cracked or lifted at the point where the forearm attaches. Its like a perfect circle which indicates the handle is either loose or one piece has shrunk. I dunno. I won't out the maker publicly, I just wondered what can cause this. Once I learn to do repair work correctly, maybe I'll fix it myself
 
One piece shrinks differently than the other. It may very well continue to occur over many years. Or not. There is no guaranteed long term cure. Heck, they could be the same piece of wood rotated. You could have it sanded smooth and the cue rubbed out but you would probably need to refinish it after you sand through the surface of the existing finish.

Live with it for a while before doing anything.

I could but I don't want to step on any toes. Its a few hundred dollar cue, not a collectible. It feels solid and plays good. Will be a good project for me later on. It just kinda sux cause it's so new.

Would it be the same piece cut and put together again because it needed to be cored for weight?
 
I'm going to suggest that you contact the builder about this issue.
This is a touchy subject and the responses you get here will only be speculation.
The builder is in a much better position to give you specific information.
