I will try and get some pics or maybe a little video would be better. It is warped.Explain further the movement ... Warped , loose pin ...??? Maybe pics ???![]()
I am posting a video in a few minutes and the shaft is straight as an arrow. If it truly does't effect the play then I just need to get it out of my head. I will post link to the video. If warped at the A joint it is possible but costly to fix . Have to assess value of cue verses repair ... If forearm is warped , kind of the same scenario ... If the shaft is straight it shouldn't affect the play , unless you have no confidence in the cue now ... Brother , I must confess that the shaft is the business end of the cue and behind that is a dog and pony show ... I speak as a player who builds cues to play with , looks are a bonus ... For real![]()
There are no inlays or points in the forearm. It is kingwood. There is a thick ring with ivory diamonds above the wrap. I will take a pic of it and post it in the morning.Brady:
Is there any inlays in this cue?
I just shed a tear.Looks like its dead, my condolences to the family.
The whole cue rolls flat on the table except the very end that is shown in the video. To me the cue is priceless and I don't have very much into it so I could justify getting it fixed.Video leaves a lot to the imagination, could be the forearm but it could also be the handle, send it to a cue maker to check, Repair would depend on what the cue is worth to you and who made it, whether to repair or not,.
Thank you Mr. Webb.Congrats on it being priceless, send it to a maker and let him actually define the problem, then you'll get your actual options and prices.
I actually talked with a semi custom maker today about a similar situation I have with a cue that I've been saving for my daughter. Brand new, been in an upright case (hard tube) for a couple of years now, inside my house, and away from any light or heat sources. Shaft is fine, but I took it out yesterday to look at and rolled it. Found out the butt had warped up by the pin.
I really had no idea this could happen in AZ with the absense of humidity, and to the butt end no less. But it appears that lack of humidity is as bad as too much, or a change in. Anyway the rep said that in some cases they can change how the joints come together to minimize the problem.
Kind of made me sick. I don't think I'll be saving my perfect spare shaft on my heirloom any longer. It's getting played now, as the future is never sure!! I feel your loss!! :frown:

Now there's one I've never seen or heard before. What would a person do or not do to be classified as a "semi" custom builder?
Not making fun of you or him just the phrase "semi custom maker" struck me in the funny bone.
