Cue Question

Get both of them. I have a Schon STL-5 that plays great. I also have a B&D custom (with the prettiest veneers you've ever seen) that plays equally as great. I keep one at home and one at the poolhall and switch back and forth as the mood strikes. Playing pool is a hobby, for most of us, so have fun. As an added bonus, having two cues is an easy way to experiment with different tips.

I used to think so but as long as it has the taper I like the right weight and the butt is not fat and hits solid I play the same.Gotta have a triangle tip

You are going to play the best with whichever cue feels the best to you. When a cue feels good in the hand, it helps to build confidence, and that confidence can take you a long way on the table.

Seriously, it's not about whether it's a production cue or a custom cue...it's about what cue is right for you. When comparing the Schon to JO...I am not even going to give you the argument that the custom will have higher quality materials...because Schon is known for their quality materials out of the gate.

The only way to know which one you would like better for sure is to play with them both, side-by-side, and pick the one which feels the best to you.

Depending on the joint and what the JO is made of can improve your game . You my find a wood to wood joint or ivory joint gives you a better touch on the cue ball, the weight of the JO my feel better, but like said before it would take alittle time with cue too see, what felt better,

You'll never know until you try them both. Cost you some money, though. If you're comfortable with the Schon, stick with it. Changing cues means you have to get used to playing with something new and that might take months, literally. At your level you're probably better off not switching just yet.

Forget everything, if the Schon is straight then it doesn't matter. Its one of THE BEST CUES on the market, PRODUCTION OR CUSTOM everyone will agree I'm sure.

Now take that extra money you were thinking about spending on a new cue and get some lessons from Scott Lee or another one of the wonderful instructors here on the forum (some like scott will travel to you).

The money would be much better spent that way.

If you were talking about keeping a Players cue or getting the JO then it would be diff. You have a wonderful cue, so keep it and pay for the lessons so your skills can get to where you can use the cue to its fullest.

best wishes,
