Cue rack with gun sights

the rack and its exact position was never a major concern for a hundred or more years. until some players found out that with a special rack they could control some of the object balls. ....
I suspect there were some players who figured out fun tricks with the rack and break long before the Sardo was introduced. Tight racks spread break tricks to the masses.

The day manager where I played a lot of pool in the 1970s had a front table he played on where the nine was dead on the break, pretty much. It persisted across changes of cloth, so maybe the craters were "helped".
