Cue Restoration Project

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post. If not, please delete or move to the correct one.

I love seeing old/vintage cues (abused/damaged/severe battle scars) that have been restored/repaired to what it must have looked like back in its prime condition.
Some older cues that I can think of possibly getting restored are: GB, GS, DPK, TAD, SW, BB, and I'm sure I forgot to mention a whole lot more.
If you had one or a bunch done, what was your favorite one?
How did you ended up with the cue and its condition?
What did it cost (then or now) and was it worth it or not?
On the other side, did you go for a restoration and it turned out into a complete disaster?
Please post some pictures (before, during, and after) if you have any?

The problem is, most guys won't show cues that were restored because "it was modified and is worth far less now"

Nevermind that the best playing cues were actually used, and could always use a spitshine, fresh tips/ferrules/wrap/whatever, the market loves to nitpick everything they aren't going to buy anyway
 
Here was a Palmer donor cue, Szamboti forearm. We salvaged this for that reason and Steve Klein made a Bushka inspired design cue. One of my favorites.

I totally understand what you're saying, and I had a feeling that some previous/current owners might not be willing to share regardless of how wonderful the restoration turned out to be. Still hoping that we'll get to see more. Thanks!

This is one of the most dramatic restorations I've ever seen. This is my Hagan cue and the restoration happened before I owned it. Looks like it was found in a dumpster just about.
