Im not planning of building cues for now... I just want to do repairs like joint works, tips, and ferrules. Do i need the deluxe lathe ? or im good with midsize lathe? Do they have the same accuracy? same precision?
The midsize is a nice starter. You can move the headstock forward to work on bar cue tips and ferrules. With the deluxe you have to buy a bed extension for that, but you get the larger through bore along with the taper bars.
For what you mentioned doing, I suggest the Mid Size Cue Smith with large spindle bore. The accuracy and precision of the Deluxe and Mid Size machines are the same. The Deluxe just offers more options.
if you can afford it buy the deluxe it does all the repairs, and you will have the option of building a cue later if you would like.
i got the midsize because it was less exspensive and if i would have bought the deluxe i would have had a lathe with no supplies to do any work. i wish i had a deluxe.
