Cue Sounds......

One time I was playing while on vacation, so the regulars didn't know who I was. I was on the table nearest the front desk, and overheard someone talking to the houseman. He asked who I was and the houseman said I was just visiting. He then asked, "What kind of cue does he have?". The houseman said, "That's a Dieckman." The guy said, "How can you tell?", and the houseman replied, "By the sound." He may have just been kidding, but he, too, played with a Dieckman, and he and Dennis are long-time friends.

The only cue I had that made a tink noise was when the Carbon Fiber layer started to seperate from the ferrule on my OB1. Royce promised to fix it though.

I have hit with a few Schons from the late 90's and they made the tink sound also. The most notable tink that I remember as being a sweet hit to me was a steel jointed TAD-1M with an ivory ferrule and what felt like a hard tip without fiber pad. I got to hit with this cue a few times back when Best Billiards was still around in Santa Ana, CA. It was a very nice cue, my friend and I liked it so much that he had it put on layaway. I later picked up my own TAD w/ steel joint, but it doesn't hit the same with Aegis/Tad Medium or Micarta/LePro. Had a new shaft made recently with Ivory ferrule/Tad Hard tip w/ red fiber pad. It is the closest tink sound and feel from what I remember so far. I like hard tips, but will change out this tip since it is too hard for my tastes.
