Cue Tip Fell Off

The tip of my cue fell of the other day as a result of me dropping my shaft onto the table.

The tip is not too old (just about maybe 5 months).

Do I need to get a new tip or can I simply reattach the old one? In addition, I don't not have a local pro shop, is there anyway I can do it myself or are there any online store that will do it for me?

Thanks.

It would be far easier and a much better result to have a new tip installed. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do it yourself, however there is no substitute for having a qualified individual perform the work. A quality tip installation requires proper preparation and after the tip is installed a person with the right tools, equipment and knowledge will give you a long lasting tip that will be less inclined to mushroom and it will also be a perfect marriage to the mating surface and also the same diameter as your ferrule. I am not sure if Joe Barringer at Cuecomponents.com is still offering tip installations through his shop or not .... If so I would recommend him since I learned how to do repairs from his DVD's. In the event that he is not doing that type of work then I would ask a different question concerning recommendations of where to send it out.

Best of luck !

First question, where are you located? Second question, why not take it back to where it was done last time? Was it local to you or did you send it out?
Sending it out tends to cost more, due to shipping, but doesn't mean a better job. If you post your location, there maybe some cue techs not to far away that can do the job.
Hope all goes well,
Dave

I have had a few tips that I installed fall off, Sometimes it has been old glue or a plastic ferrule that just won't take glue. I always put on a new tip for free.

I press tips before installation but soft tips will sometimes still mushroom. I take them back and dress them on the lathe .... no charge.... usually they hold their shape after that.

If you drop your stick and knock the tip off .... especially after you have played with it for several months............. the problem is not mine....

Plenty of good DIY videos out there. If you're patient and careful, it looks like you can get the by-hand install method down.

I am located in CT. I have found only one place that will do tip installations and its about an hours drive from my house. In addition, I bought the cue here on the forum.

I'm in Springfield, just over the line from Enfield. What part of CT?
