Cue tip glue?

My suggestion is 2 fold, First, I suggest using the LOCTITE GEL CONTROL

This is in the Blue and Gray Bottle.

Secondly and probably more importantly is this, when you open the bottle, u screw down the neck area and it ratchets down until it pierces the bottle. Then you open the bottle and squeeze out the glue.

Once I have pierced the bottle and activated the access to the glue being squeezed out, I take a SILVER or GOLD pen and with permanent marker, put the day and month on the bottle.

Then I keep the bottle and use it and make sure as soon as you squeeze the glue out, make sure to put the lid back on, immediately.

Use the bottle until the glue is gone, or until 60 days from the day you wrote the date on the bottle.

The reason is this, what many people dont realize with 'CA' glues, the super glue family of cyanoacryclate, these glues are activated by the moisture or water on the material it is being bonded to. So, anytime you open the bottle and allow any air to enter the orifice, you allowing the glue to minimally activate chemically.

So, I also sometimes wipe the tip with minimal damp cloth or spritz with moisture. Then when you put the glue on the tip or ferrule or both, the glue is chemically activated and the bond is solid.

But, if you keep the bottle over a long period of time and have opened and closed the bottle many times, especially in a high moisture environment, you might find a problem,

The problem is that the tip might 'pop' off.

Hope this helps

Good Luck

PS. I have had bottles that I kept for 6 months that have given me a poor bonding. But, I have never had a tip come off or a bad bond, while following the expiration date of 60 days from the opening of the bottle!!!

Crazy glue.

The problem most have is not so much the glue they use but the proper prep, or lack thereof, prior to gluing. Both surfaces must be clean and dry. Both surfaces should be adequately scuffed. In some case I like to apply a base 'coat' to the (leather) tip first to help keep the glue from being wicked fully away from the union. Apply enough pressure and for enough duration to allow the glue to fully set and you should be good to go.

Actually cyanoacrylates are activated by hydroxyl ions. These are typically found in water but also in bases and alcohols which can actually be used as accelerators for cyanoacrylate.

Loctite gel works great.
