Cue tip thickness

Good morning Sarah, how are you?

I have several qs for you:
1. How tall/thick is your cue tip (exclude the round part)? I mean once a cuemaker installed the tip, do you leave it as is or you cut it down some more?
2. What kind of tip do you use with your playing and break cue?
3. What kind of cue do you play with and specs?
4. Thank you and have a good day.

Saint...thanks for the questions...

First off, I use a Barnhart Cue. It is 18.5 ounces with a linen wrap. I use a Predator Z shaft...it is 11.5mm. I use a Moori slow tip. When I have it put on I usually have it cut down half way or more. I have two break cues right now. I have experimenting a little bit. I have a Barnhart jump/break cue. It is 18.5 ounces with a 13mm shaft and a medium Moori tip. The other is a Predator BK2. It is 19 ounces and has a phenolic tip. Hope that answered all of your questions. If you have any more, feel free to ask.

If you cut the Moori down striaght away, doesn't that ruin the tip? You end up by cutting half the layers off. I have always worn them in and it is a very very painful process as it takes weeks! Thanks

I get the tip cut down so I don't have to go through the wearing it in process. Plus, I don't like when the tip is a mile high. I think it is just a mental thing that I have gotten used to. It does make the duration of the tip shorter but it hardens the tip a little faster rather than it playing extremely soft until it is worn in.
