Not sure of the name/brand. But is this tip available anymore, and if so where can they be purchased. Appreciate your help. Between the backing and the tip, there's a definite layer of black.

Thx,
BM

Not a cuemaker, but this awfully looks like
- somebody installed a backing leather/PVC/plastic thingy (red)
- sombody also installed a backing leather in black ontop
- and it's a LePro tip.

Cheers!

The red thingy, backing piece has been used for ever in the states, it protected ivory ferrules from cracking and allowed players to use the tip further down. It's mfg. that way. It's definitely not a le pro. Been using those since the late sixties and still do. Thx tho for your thoughts.

I think it might be a 'Champion' tip...

I used those before....never remember seeing the black, tho it could be a stain to ''mark'' the tip, not allowing a player to go back to the installed with another champion tip and get ''free work'' done.

I agree with Chris. Are there 2 dimples on the red pad when you flip it over? If so, I believe Triumph was the only one to do that, but I could be mistaken.
Dave

I just found out, they are the early chandivert champion tips. They still make em, from France, but the ones I've see Now, on line don't have the black color under the backing. The ones I have are from the last generation. The cue maker I got em from, has no more. Oh well, thx ya'll for the imput.

Ain't that wonderful and glorious?
You can start your journey to find a new tip! Alongside you will find a lot of false friends and crappy, overpriced products.
And then suddenly, just before you are ready to give up or give in to the notknowers and notablers: peace

And a tip that's better than anything before, that gives you a smile.
You are ready to develop your game again.

Cheers!

Triumph. I have one on an old McDermott shaft.

Take one out of the box, take a picture like my first post to verify. The only ones I've seen on line have the exact same box as your pic, and look exactly the same....but no Black between the backing and the tip.
