Cue tips review

Die hard fan of the triangle. Used some moori med back in 04-06 and they were nice too. Elkmaster is great if pressed....especially if they are dudded.


I got weirded out this weekend. I purchased a nice old huebler off here and gave it to my friend who i taught to play for a christmas present. The tip and ferrule needed replacing. So while at the tournament he has it done, comes back and I ask him what kind of tip? He says the guys going to put on a lepro. I told him go back and tell the guy NO, to put a triangle. He hadn't even finished putting on the new ferrule and charged $5 more for the triangle? Not that I give a hoot about $5 but WTF they both cost the same, triangles are what 50cents a tip give or take. Thought that was pretty nitty.

I charge the same price for all American made one piece tips being Elk Master, Lepro, Triangle or Triumph. I charge a premium for Chandivert tips. I know of many installers though who charge a premium for Triangles however. Where I get my tips at wholesale, Triangles are close to double the price a Lepro tips. Since they move fairly quickly and I don't have to keep them in inventory very long I don't need to charge more.

The 5 $ might be his fee for the replacement. I charge here 7 $ to change a tip.

he's saying the cuemaker charged him an additional 5 dollars on top of what was paid for the replacement of the ferrule and change to a le pro tip. according to his post, there was no reason to charge 5 extra dollars since the ferrule was still in the process of being changed and the le pro was not put on yet so there was no need to charge that 5 dollar replacement fee. he wasnt cutting off the le pro he just put on to replace it with a triangle. he merely needed to put on a triangle instead of a le pro after the ferrule had been changed.

Ok, I get it. Too much then. He tried .....
Since I happy with playing and breaking cues right now, I moved to the jump cue. I didn't really like the one piece G10 ferule/tip, it seemed funny, strange. Never on the right track with the cue ball. So I face it and installed a really short WB pressed tip. Wow !!! It jumps way better and the control is fantastic ! I guess it grips the cue ball better, maybe the G10 was sliding on the cue ball.

Just installed a Zan tip from japan. it is ok, but is no match for g2 or Kamui.
In my honest opinion G2 med is the closest we can find now close to original Moori. kamui is my second option anytime, the black S one ...

Hello, recently I tried BK 2 with 2 tips different than the original phenolic one. First one is White Diamond, which gave a very explosive break shot, the sound is very loud, to the ones that are used to phenolic tips, it will be a pleasure and an improvement. The second tip I tried is Super Pro. I like this tip for breaking, a lot of control and breaks hard. Both tips are better than the original tip IMO.
Next, I put the new Tiger Emerald tip on my playing cue, for all the players who use hard tips, it is a very good option. First I thought it is very hard, but now I am getting used to him . It is softer than Super Pro, but harder than a Wizard. I like the spin that puts on the cue ball, holds chalk well, good energy transfer. Will see after few weeks how it holds .....

Any chance of you adding a Samsara tip in the mix?
