A friend has this cue he knows it a Joss can anyone put a value on it ?

How does the shaft and butt roll together/apart? What are the weights of each? Only one shaft and what kind of ferrule and how thick at the tip? Original finish? How long is the cue? 58"" 57.5"...ect.....

These are all questions that need to be answered before a value can be placed on the cue. I would be interested in the cue if it is straight and sound.

"Block" letter JOSS(Janes) or JW? That will have big impact on price. Nice cue, btw.

I will get more info next week
I do know there are 2 shafts and the guy still plays both so I assume it rolls pretty good

LOL!

If you guys can't tell it's a Joss and not a JW then go take up badminton instead of pool.

I am teasing....really. :D

98.673976% for sure it is a Diamond Series "era" Joss. https://josscues.com/photo-gallery/cue-archives/joss-diamond-series/ Those design elements, I believe, started around 75 and ended in the early Eighties, maybe 82?

It's a Janes cue. Not Stroud. IMHO.

Could be wrong......

It only has one shaft....:frown: But if that's an original leather wrap that may help. I don't remember the last time I saw a block letter Joss with an original leather wrap....

Anyway, yeah...condition is everything...but if it's in good condition (and it looks pretty nice)....I'll start the bidding at $500 and surrender before $1000.

I would ask 12-15 but it will sell for 8 all day, would have to wait to get close to the 15.

Of course...if it is bent, cracked, or otherwise damaged or something then it's harder to say but it will be worth less.

#5e 5c or 5b w/custom wrap?

Something like that. I think the veneers are different. But Joss made cues with those design features before that catalog. So I would place that cue in that era.

To me, from the photo's, assuming 2 shafts and the condition is ok, I'd say value is about 700-900 in current market. Ivory ferrules helps the price go up on the higher side, as do shafts that haven't been sanded down to toothpicks.
