Cue Values - Joss and Helmstetter

I am trying to get an idea of the value of 2 of my cues. Any help would be appreciated.

Cue #1

Joss "Color of Money" N7 with an orange stain. The cue was made in the early 90s and Richard Black customized a handful of them by adding an ivory butt, joint and ferrules. I have 2 shafts for this cue. 1 shaft has a slight curve. The ivory butt developed a crack in 1994 and was repaired by Richard Black.


Cue #2
Helmstetter Adams Cue. I am 99% sure this cue was made in Japan. I got it in Tokyo in the mid 90s

Let me know if there is any other information needed to value them

The joss should sell for about 700-900, but in the current market it is hard to say. I've had better luck selling old joss cues on ebay than anywhere else. With the ivory butt/joint you may be able to get 1,000, but I doubt it. And of course ebay would kick it off with the mention of the ivory.

Really good cues, that play great with the older shafts.
 
I would say if your looking to sell them,Now is not the Time.The Market is in the Toilet,If You don't need Cash just hold them.
 
Of course the Helmstetter was made in Japan. Where else? Helmstetters like that sell around $250-$350 on Ebay I think. YMMV


The Joss? I have no idea what to think if it was modified by another cuemaker. You say he customized a "handful"? It is unusual for a cuemaker, especially an established one, to modify another cuemaker's work with customization.


Just don't know.
 
As for Ebay....or anywhere...be very careful selling that cue because of the ivory. You can't even mention the ivory on Ebay.

Yeah, those Helmstetters really sell for a good amount of money on ebay. They seem to be very desirable cues. I just seen one sell for over $300 very recently on ebay.

That Joss is probably worth a lot more then it could possibly sell for on ebay. I do not know. Maybe better to list it on Facebook "Open Billiards Marketplace", if wanting to sell it.

No need to check the classifieds for pretend dealers selling cues.

I've been getting calls almost every day for cues and and repairs.

This year has been the best in years for me.
