I have been catching a lot of flack over this for the past few months.

Let me preface this by saying I am a decent shot for a leaguer. I play at a low - mid B to a very high C speed on an off day.

So I was wondering why I always get "shafted" for calling a cue a "stick". Ive been playing all my life. My dad plays better than I. My uncle plays better than both of us. Both my grandfathers played. And we all call them sticks.

When I look at others' cues, I always comment "that is a nice stick, who made it?"; or something to that effect. And I always get the stink eye for it.

So What say you.........Cue or Stick?

Josh

log.

you get the 6 and out.

"Cue" sounds like a worth instrument- "stick" sounds like something you found in a field.

Dumbest debate ever!! You guys can go ahead and call it what you like...I call it Little Drew

LOL, you just hit one of my pet peeves head on.

CUE. = sports equipment. STICK= refers to a long, slender piece of wood, usually a branch from a tree without the leaves

why stick? because it's made with wood? so are a billion other products, why not start calling your Car a metal, or your computer a plastic? they are made using those materials afterall. If you want to go on calling your cue a stick, why not call it a tree? log? or a stump? or something else made with wood... your pool telephone pole?

I call mine a cue, sometimes a stick. If I see a nice one, I'll compliment the owner: "Nice cue!"

That being said, I like the feel when my cue sticks the ball....

Bad example. Have you never heard of Detroit iron? And I am always hearing people calling their computer "YOU PIECE OF S***!!"

A pool player can be a stick also,but never a cue.Cuesit?

There was a thread a week or so ago where it was pupported that people who referred to cues as sticks were numbskull bangers-maybe that is the inspiration for this thread?

No, like a true Noob I forgot to do a search before I posted this thread. If I had known about the other, I wouldnt have started this one.

I dont think I would be in the Numbskull Banger range. But I guess that would depend on to whom you talk or how Im playing.

I am from WV so Im kind of on the RedNeck end of things, I guess I could always blame it on that.

this one cracked me up.

VERY expensive piece of wood!

I don't know what anybody else calls them, but to me they are very expensive pieces of wood.

Some days they could or should be firewood, other days they deserve to be in the trophy case. I guess it all depends on how well they got used on any given day!

Seriously, all the time I have spent learning how to use them, they have always been know as "pool cues".

We all know what they are,

and occasionally,

know how to use them!

I say keep calling it a stick if it pi$$es off the other players(unless they can & will kick your a..) then call it whatever THEY want.
