Cue weight does.?

Doesn't matter unless it was some freakish weight for conversation.
It's more important that you are shooting with a weight you like.

Rocket plays with a 19.5 oz cue. Frozen to the rail shots are his reason for this. What type of cue? I think pred but really it makes no difference
when you'r talent is 11 out of 10.

Teach my why a 19.5 ounce cue helps with shots frozen to the rail. Is 19 ounces or 20 ounces not going to be as effective and why?

Hmm i asked to know but i see some people have something smart to say about my question thanks anyway..
And weight does matter for cb speed and keeping your stroke true.
I called the him and ask him after i posted this ..

hi realizm;

I did hear about The Rocket commenting on this saying that he prefers a heavier weight cue at 19.5 or better and it was, indeed, to do with shooting cue ball-frozen-on-the-cushion shots.

He felt that the weight was needed to assist in keeping the cue tip where he wants it for striking whitey on those shots. IIRC, this came up at Turning Stone when Rodney and Alex were playing in the final.

It reminds me of a gadget that I'm pretty sure Pat Flemming invented and marketed for a little while that you slip onto your cue shaft, adding weight which assists in keeping the tip down when shooting jacked-up shots.

best,
brian kc

i shoot with pred shaft, i think i'm at around 20ounces now
i was at 22+ounces for 7 years, but trying to go lighter just changed a week ago again

i dont know if this is "only a predator thing" or not, but i like really light cues(solid maple), but if i'm using predator, i always feel better with a heavier cue because going over the top of a ball, or off a rail are the only two shots where i have to make sure i have a true stroke, or i'll squirt the ball or get a light miscue

i think heavier cues help with top spin, not sure why though (seems to push the ball better, like natural follow through)
lighter cues will draw much easier (for me at least)

i remember hearing 18.75 is what muecci tested at the best all around weight FWIW

like others said though, pick a weight that feels good, with a balance that feels good- it'll play better than the "perfect" weight anyways,

this is a game of feel/experience/confidence... what feels good, will make everything feel more natural to you, hence should help

ps. kicken chicken, interesting idea...
i'd like to try going back to 17.5-18.5 if i could get a 2+ ounce weight to slide over the shaft around the joint, would be interesting experiment if nothing else

I may have been a bit of a smart a$$, sorry bout that.

I think we can both agree Rodney is a freakishly talented player.
