I want to buy a straight, decent, custom ivory jointed, and ivory ferrule cue. Plain jane, sneaky, whatever. A player. 18 to 19.5 oz....at least 12.5 shaft (prefer 12.75 to 13).
Prefer wrapped...not a must though .2 shafts preferred...not mandatory. I don't want to spend more than $600. The cheaper the better.
Peace,
Jeff

Good luck.

Most "Customs" start at or around $400. Plain, nothing fancy, 1 shaft. Its a pool cue.
Add Ivory Ferrule $40-75.
Add Ivory Joint $150ish+
Extra shaft, Id say minimum of $125-150. Add Ivory ferrule-$40-75.

Can you find a "Custom" how you want for $600? Maybe, but quality costs $$.
Why not save and your options will open up a lot in the $800-1000 price range.

I know that I will have a lot more options, if I add $300 to $400 (or more) to what I'm willing to pay. But, here's my logic and reasoning.I hit (maybe three years ago) with someone's stick that had the ivory joint and ferrule.
Loved the hit. I can't remember who the maker was. And, I also don't remember at all who's cue it was! Must have been a night with a little drinking involved. I want to get a cue to try out. See if these materials are the key to getting the hit I want/remember.If the stick I get is made by a known maker...and I get it for a very reasonable cost...I should be able to get out of it fairly easily if the hit is not what I think I remember.
I know that was a bunch of babble! But, my thoughts nevertheless.

Lipstick on a pig, using all that Ivory on what would have to be a sneaky pete or very plain jane cue is almost a shame. I think it would be easier and cheaper to hand pick the woods used and have a cuemaker try to duplicate the hit you seek.

My buddy has a 60" Midwest cue with ivory joint and ferrule with a leather wrap on the handle. It is a beautiful stick and I know he would take less than $450 for the cue. Let me know and I will get some pics if interested.

Auerbach Custom Cues makes some very nice cues in that price range. Check out his website at www.auerbachcustomcues.com. I have personally seen and played with several of his cues, and they are top quality hit, feel, and appearance. Great care taken in the construction of his cues. He has some cues "in work", and there is a link for that at the bottom of his homepage.
