Phenolic or leather tip which is better on a break cue, I didn't see any reviews on here that's why I'm asking thanks.

I've had both.... if you do not want too much action like a controlled break stright up the center, phenolic is fine. I was told there are several phenolic tips and the linen based is better.

If you want lots of spin action Samsara's break tip is known for this, and I had one.

My cuemaker makes alot of break cues for some of the best breakers I have seen, and utilizes a compressed pigskin, with his "special secret mix" resulting a very hard tip.

I got tht tip and saw it tested against the phenolic I had..... it proved harder by bouncing higher off the ground when two shafts with the two different tips were dropped straight, vertical tip firs, from about 4 ft. high distance off the ground, to a cement floor. Ned Morris says his tips will last as long as the cue and take no maintenance.

I do not want much over action off my break.

LOL, that's a helluva test. Do you test a lot of shafts/tips that way ???

I've never persosally done it.

But Ned Morris is one of 25 certified cue makers and been in the biz for 40 yrs. Break shafts are thicker and so when he did that I accepted it. as a good demonstration.

Straight vertical drop onto the tip hitting a concrete floor would not seem to be anywear near the typical power or stress on a shaft reaslzed when consistantly breaking

I myself like leather tips. The reason is I have chipped balls with a phenolic tip and also some places they are banned. My two cents

I used to have a phenolic tip. I switched to Samsara and prefer it much better. Way more control.

:D

I use a leather tip but I'm just a bar box banging eight ball player.

Making the eight on the break is a win for me.
