Cuemaker build off

I agree :) I can't wait either. I won't be taking a week off work but I am excited. I have a table here at the house so there is no need to take off work :)

BVal

I've got a table, but no room at the new house :(
I'm considering extending my deck, framing it up and roofing it for just that purpose though. I'd suppose that would qualify me to be a pool nut.

Klink you got a pm and Brozif you have one as well

A suggestion I might make to everyone on the list is to look up the ppl who have the cues before and after you and contacting them. This way you could possibly meet up for the exchange to save not only on shipping, but also to avoid possible nightmares in shipping.

I didnt take the time to read all 16 pages of this thread.. Perhaps you can fill me in?? What kind of security measures do you have in place to insure that someone doesnt get greedy.. It seems like alot of wood for one guy to handle at a time.. let alone 20 guys..

Sloppy seconds anyone??

Not to hate, but state ID Scans Might be a good plan?
Otherwise this sounds EPIC!

All the members that are going to get the cues have done transactions on here before, and are known members....I agree, things can happen..but I feel the list of people are trustworthy enough...

I feel confident that this will follow through to the end without a hitch. If something comes up(bad transaction..etc) with a member that is not in the good of AZB.....they will be taken off the list.

When someone gets the cues...they are encouraged to take them to thier local pool hall and let people they know and trust try them out....I will be going to Magoos in Tulsa and let some guys try them out....also some locals in my Muskogee pool hall....

I am also planning on taking these to the World Classic in Galveston Sept 11 to let people try out..........

Getting close guys!!!!!

Great idea gunzby!!!! That is one reason I have them being shipped to the next closes member..that way it may be possible to drive the cues to the next guy...and that way we all can possibly meet a AZ member that we have otherwise would not have met....I will probably be driving them down to Texas to GroundHogg...

But its ok to ship the cues....the Insurance and Tracking info has to be posted on here though so we and the cue builders know where the cues are at any given time

Trial Period?

I have been trying to keep up with the thread, but I may have missed it. How long does each person have to try out the cues? I think I remember seeing something about four to five days, but I couldn't remember if that was in relation to my question. Thanks in advance for the answer.

I would think a week would be enough time to keep the cues...give or take a few days..were flexible though..this is a fun event...if you need them for more time because your going to take them to a tourney so more people can evaluate them...I think that would be fine....

It would need to be posted on here though so we all are kept in the loop...And its not really the testers that would need to be kept in the loop...its the cue builders...

Thanks Brandon for that question!

I hope everyone doesn't keep the cues to long. I'm also glad I am not at the top of the list. I just know I am going to find one I love and I don't want to have to wait to long to order one!

That case JB is donating is sure going to get a workout in a short time. I get UPS deliveries at work everyday, and get to see the way some of the items arrive. UPS does not stand for Gentle Shipping Company.

Okay Okay, I guess the question is.. Does someone know everyone on this list personally.. Otherwise I can see this going arry very quickly..

I am building this case especially for this purpose. It will come with it's own shipping tube with a sewn on holder for the way bill. I guarantee no harm will come to the cues unless UPS totally destroys the shipping container and the case inside it. It should stand up to UPS without a problem.

John - knows UPS very well.....

I believe a few members that are participating do know some others......these are members that have done some transactions on here that are 100% good Itrader....yes, that doesnt always say things wont go off without a hitch.....but I am betting the people that participate dont want to ruin thier reputation on here over these cues....because you just wont be dealing with 1 person....you will be dealing with 7 cuemakers.....and a whole room full of pissed off pool players....I think everything will be fine.....

And I thinkn JB Cases will do very well....

We are also evaluating Johns case......so he will need our feedback on his case as well.......

Alright, After talking with ftgokie Im hosting a spot on one of my sights specific for this purpose.. Still need some input from FTgokie.. Or whoever wants to voice there ideas.. You can get to it on the front page of poolgoog.com

I also set up a map on google maps

OK.......1 cue builder has had to withdraw from the build off because the cue cannot be completed on time due to some family issues.....And thats ok, we just wish him and his family the Best....You know who you are!!!!

Here is what we have so far....6 cue builders will have cues built to similar specs....1 cue builder has kindly donated a cue for us to test hit in the 1 cue builders place that had to withdraw. This cue is a 2 point sneaky pete. So it will not be approx the same as the others.

I have agreed to send this cue on with the other 6 cues, but what do we do about the Sneaky Pete? Do we judge it along with the others? Or do we have it in a category all by itself?

I need some opinions on this....I have played with this cue and I can tell you it is really an amazing and very pretty cue. So give me some ideas guys........

Quick Rundown

1 cue builder has had to withdraw :frown: But we wish him and his family the best and hope everything is ok!!!!!

Here is a rundown on how the cues were built

1. The cue will have a lightly figured BEM forearm and butt

2. Handle will be Maple or Purpleheart, wrapped or wrapless (up to cue builder) if you specifially build all your cues with PH then use PH.

3. Cue builder to decide to core or not to core

4. cue builders personal taper on shaft

5. Cue builder to use Molavia Medium tips provided by Duc Lam

6. Builder's to use black phenolic collars, buttcap

7. Cuemakers choice on ferrule, pin

8. Weight will be 19oz +/- 0.2oz

9. No ringwork, inlays, points, signatures or trademarks

10. have integrity & build the cue as if somebody had ordered it, the same way you'd build all of your cues.

JB Cases has made a case specifically for this buildoff so the cues will travel in style and safely across the USA on the long journey! We will evaluate and provide feedback on the case as well.

On the absence of the 1 cue builder, another cue builder has provided a cue for us to test. It is a 2 point sneaky pete. We will grade this cue in a category all by itself...Once Eric sends the 6 cues and case to me, I will add the cue to the group.

Cues and case is enroute to Eric right now. 1 other cue builder has asked for en extension, and since this is the first buildoff and we are doing the groundwork for a 2nd buildoff with much more expensive cues, we are happy to allow him an extension.

And here is the list of testers and the order they will recieve the cues;

Order the cues and case will be received

Eric Crisp - New Mexico

Ftgokie - Oklahoma

ugotactionTX - Texas

GroundHogg - Texas

Bval - Phoenix AZ

Vegasplayer - Las Vegas

poolplayer2093 - Stockton Cali

Benfica - Newman California

Safety - LA Cali

WoodyJ - California

Cueballdg - Washington

HollyWood - Minnesota

md5key - Indiana

Brandoncook26 - Kentucky

shakes - Mississippi

Grampa000 - Clearwater FL

Klink - South Carolina

gunzby - Hickory NC

Brozif - Virginia

Bamacues - Maryland

hellfish - Syracuse, NY

a9ballbr8k - Rochester NY

logic - Buffalo, NY

jcommie - Champaign, Illinois

Then Back to ftgokie in Oklahoma for the cues and cases to be raffled off

Any questions or comments feel free to fire away!!!!!

judge them the same. the cues will show each builders basic style for the lower based budget .performance and stability first then chrome it.

Any other opinions on this....I know what my thoughts are on this...but I want everyone elses thoughts as well......Cue Builders responses to the question would be much appreciated....and thanks for your input Bill

OK, I started on the last page and read from back to front (stopping on page 6 because of eye fatigue). I only noticed one cue makers name.

Will you either here or on the very first post you did: Write down who the builders are?
Side note, sad that I did not open this thread when it started and get my name on this list. :)

The cues will be in Florida..I can add you to the list if you want

The cue builders that are involved are not known but to me, and Eric Crisp (Sugartree Cues)
